I have an Asus M2N28-AM Plus and a transcend 2gb DDR2 667mhz ram.. i want to put another 2gb ram.. should i buy the other one at same mhz or can it be different like 800mhz...?
can anyone help me out and also explain about this?
so in my case it will not cause any problems like restarting and i can go ahead with buying... i saw a few cheap ones over here in TE and they were alll 800 mhz
Yeah ASUS motherboard generally do not have an issue with mismatched RAM modules [from the point of view of speed, frequency et al]. Just to be safe flash your motherboard to its latest BIOS patch.
I have used same board with DDR 2 800 MHz mixed with 667 MHz memory stick (2GB X 1GB) without even updating BIOS, No problem what’s so ever. Memory worked as duel channel DDR 667.
put another 800mhz ram it will work at 667mhz dual channel without problems . you can even set 800mhz in bios , that transcend 667 should run at 800mhz easily with other 800mhz stick , if its unstable set to 667MHz .
