I accidentally connected 220 v instead of 110 volts for my new 5.1 logitech X540 speakers.

The result was obvious.

It stopped working.

Is there any solution ????

Hopefully (and very much so), it's just the power circuit (most likely the transformer) which is blown

one easy way to test that possibility is to test the resistance between the AC terminal connectors (since a blown primary coil is the most likely culprit)

if it is infinite, the issue is very likely a blown tfr whicih can fairly easily and chaply be replaced

Dude, by your post it appears you have connected the correct voltage of 220V. Or did you connect 110V?

us and canada have 110v/60hz power supply while we have 220v/50hz

imo it shouldnot create a problem as most devices are designed to run on both

I got it from US where 110 volts is standard.

accidentally i forgot to put the converter so kabooom...

can anyone tell whom to contact ..

i am from hyd

kaboom as in actually heard or something? or smell something from it? :P

make sure u read the power ratings written on it and if it says 110V only or both 110 and 220.

If u indeed heard something or smell something, then you probably blew a cap or worse blew the power circuitry, if its a cap, its easily repairable, the circuit on the other hand depends on the extent of damage. So assess the above and post back ur observation. make sure you try checking the resistance between the terminals as superczar suggested above if u have access to a multimeter

In most cases there wouldnt be any major damage to it.. I'd blown my PSU too which i got from US the same way.. Just some minor repairs.. Cost 200-300. But this case could be different.

yeah, it'll post probably be a blown cap, and if ure really lucky, just the fuse.

I did the same a long time back with an old amplifier (which had a big sticker on the power plug saying '110 volts', the booze did really get to me that day ;)). The transformers were fine but the fuse was blown, along with a couple of caps in the power supply, and half of the output stage. Didn't cost me too much, and after a new pair of transformers wound for the correct voltage, we were back in business. Took a couple of thousand bucks, all told.

Another friend bought a Bose acoustimass from the US and plugged it in straight. All the power chips split into half down the middle, and the inside looked like an atom bomb had hit it. Basically unrepairable, but seeing that it was a Bose it was probably better like that.

It kind of depends on what protection circuitry was built in, and the topology of the amps. Chips will be blown clean off as the voltage is twice what they are rated for. Even protection circuits cannot account for this much operation out of spec.

If you're very lucky it's just a fuse. If you're unlucky...

there was no sound,( kaboom was just a exaggeration )

its rated only 110 volts :(

i dont have access to a multimeter unfortunately.

Can any one from Hyderabad tel me where get it repaired.

why dont you check if you just blown the fuse first. you can remove the fuse from the back of the sub and see if its burnt/black and replace the fuse. maybe it might work.

I am unable to remove it .. thats the problem.

Rave.... I heard that u re from hyd, can u help me out with this..

unable to remove it ? if your sub & z5500 sub has same construction at the back then its fairly simple. if you see a keyhole like projection, simply put in a screw driver and turn it one side , you can then pull out the fuse cover with the fuse inside.

yes fuse is blown get an 3ampere fuse for rs.5 n ur set !! i have blew it 3 times, today was the 3rd time lol ! open it with the help of a screwdriver and just push it had while putting back with the new fuse .
