Guys I want to buy a mouse. Primary concerns are ergonomics and gaming. Suggest me something for prolonged use. I have short-listed a few:-

1) RAZER ABYSSUS
2) Logitech MX518
3) Arctic M571 Laser
4) GIGABYTE GM-M6800

My budget is 1.2-1.3K. Please pour in the suggestions.

MX 518 is best for long hours of gaming ..but it mainly depends on grip :) and how much weight you want on the mouse .

My grip is not so small, and I have a palm grip. One thing, I have heard that the MX518 wears down quickly compared to others. Is it true?

Another thing, is buying a 400-500 bucks Mousepad necessary for regular usage of say around 10-12 hours?

For prolonged use, I would suggest the Razer Salmosa. Although do go to the store/shop and try out the mouse before buying it. Each one here will recommend a different mouse which according to them is comfortable for them but it won't necessarily mean its going to be comfortable for you.

That's true but I have to buy online as not much options are available locally. I know it's bit of a hit or miss but...

Brands such as Roccat and SteelSeries are also good. But alas! So few know of them.

@OP: Please tell us these things so that we can be more helpful

1)How do you hold your mouse, claw grip, palm grip, or something else?

2)Games of which genre do you mostly play?

1) palm grip

2) racing, rts, fps, rpg - this is the order of preference

Roccat & SteelSeries are really good brands but my budget is limited.

MX518 is a good mouse and also good for long durations and if you like extra buttons, but razer have very nice feel.

Logitech mx-518 is a very gud mouse , if u have lill patience u will get adjusted to it pretty soon , but its not for low sensitivity gamers because the wire at the front tip of the mouse after lot of dragging arnd becomes loose and mouse optical light starts getting on and off for evry big drag (personal experience have had 2 mx had same problem with both the mx , rmaed the 2nd one now owning a death adder ) , but the 3 years warranty on mx-518 is a overkill if u get gud rma service at ur place u can buy it widout any tension as if the problem i told occurs u get a brand new sealed pack :)

MX-518 is a tried and tested gaming mouse .. with your prolonged usage you will encounter sweat build up due to the plasticky body of the MX-518 ..

The mouse offers you good palm grip ... Purchase a new one coz you will need to get a RMA atleast once in the warranty period.

The DA is a little more expensive but is better than MX-518 IMO .. i've used both. The DA offers a more natural grip & rubberized coating which is suitable for both gaming and general use.

Bear in mind you will need to get a mouse pad .. even a Qck Mini to maintain the mouse .. coz using them on anything else will cause their feet to wear off and ruin the glide.

How are Rantopad mats?

palm grip = razer salmosa / razer death adder

I must respectfully disagree.

Palm grip on a DA is a PITA.

I owned one and the bump mid-mouse for the so called ergonomic styling gave a huge problem... :(

SteelSeries Ikari Optical is great for Palm grip, a new one comes in at 2.3k

But if you are looking for sub-1.5k mouses, MX-518 is your best bet.

I've experienced differently .. the DA does offer good palm grip too .. if you have chubby hands .. :)
The mid-bump fits in nicely your hand is isn't bony or skinny.

How is Rantopad?
They are good for a first time mouse pad .. get it now start saving for a Qck+ or Goliathus.

what about razer abyssus? I have seen quite a number of RMA-ed cases of MX518, so just a bit hesitant...

How much does a Qck+ or Goliathus at the lower end?

The full sized ones come for around 1100 bucks. The smaller Qck Mini you will get for 600 bucks max.

The goliathus also 600-700 for small then 800-900 for medium n 1100 for large size.

The MX-518 has been known to face issues but getting RMA isn't too much of a problem if you have a genunie bill.

The Razer DA is the only trustworth mouse from Razer .. also check out the SS Kinzu in that price range.
Its quite good and small sized but lacks side-buttons.
