Help me get rid of mosquitoes (anything except zapper racquet)

So my younger one is dengue positive and I want to now declare war on mosquitoes. I already have zapper racquet but I want a solution that works better.
I cannot use allout / goodknight as my kid is allergic.
What options do I have? May be turn on some device in my bedroom and close everything and ensure all mosquitoes die and later on I am ok to keep machine on or off when going for sleeping. Do those violet light like things work?

Please suggest a very effective way of getting rid of mosquitoes.
Also, my wife has put some plants in pots just outside bedroom window, are they also possibly contributing to mosquitoes coming?

Some plants may repel mosquitoes, so try those. Don't think plants alone can cause this issue.

I will not advice using odmos on skin and all.
I can recommend using mosquite net on windows and even on bed.

Mosquite net should be really good quality.
Even small whole is enough to render it almost useless.

I have seen many foreigners having some electronic pocket size device which repels mosquito.

plants and environment around you that attracts dragonflies will help control their population, we have a garden full of them, a neighborhood in our city has native bats and there's almost no mosquitoes there, some fishes also feed on mosquitoes and their larvae, added the basics of not letting still water collect around your house helps. Other than the conventional methods of using repellents, smoke and pest control, it helps terribly to close your windows between 1-2pm. I don't know how one could absolutely eliminate them without taking an aggressive approach (nets, disney, egypt). There's also supposed pills that you could drop in water bodies to kill their larvae, but I don't know how ecologically sound/ effective that is.
 
We have a mosquito net in windows but it remains open (as in rolled up) for most of the day. May be we should keep it closed entire day for starters.
 
Drop emails and phone calls to local municipal authorities and public representatives for regular anti-mosquito spraying and fogging in your area ...atleast weekly once should it be done in order to stop their reproduction.(Mosquitos have a birth cycle of 10 days). If you are staying near forest area then mosquito nets are the best solution.

It's a war which cannot be won. It can be managed -
1. Insect/mosquito net on all open windows and doors. We have the sliding ones.
2. Sleep under mosquito net
3. A good electric mosquito bat
4. All-out / good night - we tried all and found that these are not that effective so more for peace of mind than anything else.
5. Recently we discovered that keeping naphthalene balls open in a container kind of works
This is what you can do + what @bigb123 mentions above for which you are dependent on others.

There use to be this German guy in one of our treks ..who was carrying very small one and he said it works well.

I may be wrong here but that might backfire.
You cant play too much with nature also.

Look what happen when chinese were killing all the sparrows to protect their agriculture. It went on cause even more problems then solving..

Mosquitos have wiped down dinosaurs as per some study. They may have critical role in nature but some control is still needed against them otherwise they are quite harmful too to almost every species.

It works great when travelling. I applied the cream all my upper body and legs and sat in a veranda in the evening wearing only shorts.

I got just one bite. So it works. You need to reapply every four hours in those conditions to be effective. It's cheap, effective and easily available.

We used them in the 70s. They were good enough back then.

There is no such device that works with mosquitoes. Unless it uses replaceable pads.

The nets on my house. Mesh really don't roll up. We are careful not to keep doors open longer than needed in the early evening.

This one is new for me. Naphthalene is usually to keep moths away. Moths that will go after clothes.

We had a terrible horde of mosquitoes when we open the door to our flat (3rd floor). Dad hung a small plastic container with holes in it and the horde is no more. We have also put them in our rooms at relatively dark books and crannies. It appears to be effective so far.
