PC Peripherals Help me to build a powerful 64-bit setup ?

i want to build a powerful desktop and want to operate in 64bit mode and
purpose : programming and gamming

my requirement is
1)mobo+
2)cpu+
3)hdd(1tb)+
4)ram(8gb as used buy 64 bit machines)
and budget is 25k for these four items

which is best to choose amd or intel suit ? and in what configurations ?? please guide i m new bee in this "pc buing world"
 
64 Bit Computing AMD is always better. Get any Phenom-II's duals or Quaddy's, will give good performace.

pair those with an 8GB or max you can afford

plus a RAID Array or latest 7200.12 SEAGATE or WD HDD will give you good performance.

plus Buy a MOBO with 790GX Chippy, which has good expandability.

Try BIOSTART 790GX's will give good perf for low cost.
 
Yeah go for 64Bit from AMD. Cost effective solution as compared to Intel and best bang for the buck. You are going to use for programming. Not sure if virtualizations got to do anything with your programming but AMD's virtualization solution works better then Intel's IMO.

X3 wouldnt be bad either as programming is also involved hence an additional core would be better.

Consider this X3 720 BE + Asus M4A78T-E + Seagate 1TB + 2x2GB DDR3

4 GB DDR3 for a few days after which you can add another 4GB as the prices drop. This is the latest trend in memory and will make your system future proof, but this exceeds your budget a little bit.

This board even has Raid 5 if in future you require more redundancy for your programming database which will involve at least more then 2 HDD's. Here you can even consider 4x 250GB HDD's in RAID 5. Will give you much better performance due to more spindles involved here.

What about Cabinet + PSU ? Which one do you have ?

purpose - gaming, but no GFX card :S or u already have it

8GB is an overkill atm, 4GB is the sweet spot

they mean to say even a normal user will benefit from 6*2GB or 4*4GB ?

it might be true for enthusiasts but not everyone for sure.
 
though im new to this would you agree its better to overkill than to underkill

at the same time i do agree 4gb is the sweet spot but if you want to have 8gb ram it wont do no one no harm

for better performance i can spend 7k bucks more . . . if any one suggesting

i read somewhere 64 bit Os can support max 12GB ram practically, is it true ?
(i know theoretically is up to 16M * GB)

One suggestion:-

AMD Phenom II X3 720BE -> 7.5k || AMD Phenom II X4 955BE -> 13k

MSI 790FX-GD70 -> 9.5k

Corsair xms3 2x2GB -> 5k (check out the OCZ platinum also)

Western Digital 500GB x 2 in RAID0 -> 5.5k

That makes ~28k or ~ 33k.

Anyways, back to topic, I don't think that 8GB is overkill for a 64 Bit rig, I have myself used a Mac Pro with 8GB RAM and a 2 x Quad Xeon and the 8GB RAM does get utilized for the resource intensive work I was doing. However you would still not see the same kind of improvement between 4 and 8 GB as you would between 2 and 4 GB. So rather than saying its an overkill, I would say its wiser to invest in faster 4GB RAM than go with 8 GB.

ya i can stretched up to 34k max and i can compromise in HDD capacity as we can add it later stage. . Ahmedabad but i can managed to buy from mumbai also
