Android [Help] My phone's display is lifting off the frame!

My Realme X2 Pro is going strong at 3 years of age with no flaws except that the display has started separating from the frame at the lower left corner. Pressing it back in causes a bright pink line across the left edge. Sometimes when I take it out of the pocket, the line is there until I gently press the corner.

Took it to a Realme service centre and they told me that it's better to get this fixed at a third party service centre because Realme can only replace the display which costs 15.5k.

I'm planning on running this phone for a year or two longer so what should I do about this?

Most likely your phone's battery is swollen.
Get the battery replaced asap, either by service centre or third party.
And don't use/charge your phone for long hours till you get the battery replaced.

Yep same thing had happened to my windows tablet. I left it at home for a month or so and when I came back found the screen lifting up from one corner. Had to dismantle and dispose of the swollen battery. As @bigbyte suggested get your battery replaced. Even the Realme guys can do that.

Don't charge your battery over 80% (actually it's a good habit either way) which causes stress on the battery. Replace battery ASAP as suggested.

There are so so so many complaints about this same issue with Realme phones. One of the reasons why some of the e-tailers have stopped selling Realme phones. Take it to service center.

Yes! The battery life is actually still pretty good as I've almost always run it from 80% to 20%. I didn't suspect the battery because it's still giving me 5+ hours of SOT. Also, I've mostly used a simple 10W charger instead of the 50W one. The 50W charger is used only when I have to go somewhere and need the battery charged up in under 25 minutes.

The phone is 3 years old so no warranty :/

Get the battery checked if it's fine then maybe it's a bad assembly issue. Local repair people can do it in front of you.

I know bad phone case can remove screen protector. Maybe your case is similar. Any way you should get it repaired at a local mobile repair shop.

I think the battery in this phone is definitely better than the ones in my old Motos. Had an X Play and X Force and both had their batteries failing within 2 years. They turned off at 30%. Compared to them, this one did way better. Kinda unexpected because I didn't expect much from Realme.

I had the turning off with the first LG battery after 3 years. No swelling.

The second one swelled in 1.5 years.

On the third battery now. Let's see how long it lasts

All 3 were genuine batteries

Typically I've noticed swelling occurs if you charge a battery fully and leave it like that for months.

Not the case for a battery that is used and recharged every day

display lifting off is not an uncommon issue. came to know of that when it happened to me

most of those cases need some gluing that's all. the battery may not be the problem. Glue thingy - most of the small shops guys do it, service centers are expensive for this small work; cost me 250Rs,
