Well my 7200.11 is dead cause of the firmware issues and i need help. I need a silimar working HDD. I will swap the circuit board to access the Data in my HDD and then send mine for RMA. My HDD is just not getting detected.

I need somebody to help me out with a spare drive now. Here is a solution which should work with my situation:

Chip.in • View topic - HELP **** 500GB Hdd DEAD........(IT'S ALIVE AGAIN)

Chip.in • View topic - HELP **** 500GB Hdd DEAD........(IT'S ALIVE AGAIN)

Basically all i need is a similar HDD with a working firmware. I will be able to get it detected and transfer the DATA and then send it for a RMA. Anybody willing to lend me a HDD. I will bear the cost of transportation and will also ensure that if the lended HDD dies then i will bear the full cost of the HDD. I will also supply the lender with a spare HDD for the time being. Plus a treat from my side.

Do let me know :)

My HDD details are:

S/N : 9QM3G420

Model No: ST3500320AS

Firmware: SD15

Just wondering if a circuit board of a 400GB would work with the same. HDD Gurus what are your opinions on the same matter.

i say dont try it, rather get hold of the 500GB hdd, should find someone willing to give u on the forum

cant the drive be detected with seatools in bios? (disconnect all other hdd's first, else other hdd might get detected falsely)

if it is detected just flash it with a working firmware. you should get the data back. (just a theory, i don't know whether it will work :ashamed: )

^^^hey switch, I have a Seagate HDD, but tell me one thing, would it void any warranty on my HDD??? If it does, then I guess you will understand that I might not be very interested to take that risk, but anyways, have to return your DVDs, so if you want, I can bring along my HDD but I would need a spare one even if it is half the storage amount....another issue being, that its my primary HDD, oh a lot of work it seems now but anyways....:hap2:

Thanks Banik. I already have somebody donating me the HDD for the time being. Also it won't void the warrenty as it is just like opening a HSF from a GFX card. None of the stickers tear off and no seals are broken :)

Yes its not allowed to open up the HDD but then again one is not even allowed to overclock the CPU :P
