Help needed for buying an iPhone 4

I am from Mumbai and looking to buy an iPhone 4 16/32 Factory unlocked only. Help me in the below mentioned queries.

From where should I buy it were I can guaranteed get a Factory Unlocked phone only?

Should I wait for Airtel / Vodafone to officially announce it ? (Honestly, I don't wanna wait since I've been waiting forever now to even hear anything from them about the availability of the phone)

What are the current prices ?

Not exactly a very good time to buy iPhone 4. Prices are insane due to Diwali plus stocks are limited in abroad too. If you can wait like 1-2 weeks, the prices here will surely come down. There is no point to wait as neither Vodafone nor Airtel are launching it anytime soon. There is no source to back this up but looking at their previous trend, its gonna remain the same i.e. launch iPhone 4 just before iPhone 5 is launched in abroad.

I think the current prices of iPhone 4 FU 16GB are going around 38-40k which is quite a lot and is a rip off. In mumbai, you can try Alfa or Heera Panna i guess for iPhone 4. The only way to check whether its FU is to put any sim card and let it activate and it will work. Out of box, its kinda difficult to make out whether its FU or not. Buy from a trusted dealer and you will be safe for sure.

Both Alfa and Heera Panna , hike up the prices when it comes to Apple iPhone and same would be the case for iPhone 4 as well.

And I think the only way to check the phone is by updating the iOS right ? Cause even if its a software unlocked one, the Sim would work ?
 
Check for Cydia on the phone. If there's Cydia, check for Ultrasn0w in the packages. If it's installed, the phone is NOT FU.

If Cydia is not present on the iPhone, and your SIM works. It's FU. You are good to go.

FU iPhones are generally sold sealed or opened box but not jailbroken, cause they don't need to be.

A non FU iPhone will mostly always be jailbroken for ultrasn0w. Otherwise the SIM won't work.
 
I had gone there alright..... But the people there were more interested in selling the Diwali decorations than Lava Lamps & Plasma lamps.....

I'll go there again after diwali sumtime in the last week of november.

Replied to ur thread. I got a 32 gb fac unlocked used with box and accessories . Selling price 41000 but this is a friends phone so if u ready to buy at 41 he will sell to u . Pm me if ur interested then I shall talk to him
 
Check at herra panna,u will get a 10 days used iphone 4 with box and all acc in mint condition,with same serial number on the box and phone,i got a 16gb from herra panna for 27k.....
Pristine condition not a impression on the iphone
i m on 4.1 using airtel..
And for ur micro sim,shop number 15 manish market,will charge u just 25 rs for the sim cutting...
 
Not to highjack the thread but how much does iPhone 3gs & 4G(lowest Gb) cost in US & how to deal with contracts?

It would be an 'Okay' deal if you can get it at 39K~ , here dealers are selling it for 38K~ FU and sealed and they would even activate the phone and update the OS if you ask them too all in front of you.
