hi guys,

after a long while i'm finally gonna upgrade to a new PC.
the specs i want on it are.........

mobo: biostar TA790GX 128M cpu socket am2+ (IGP)
processor: AMD athlon 64 X2 7750 BE or AMD Phenom X3 8450( or 8750)
psu: zebronics zeb 500w
hard drive: seagate st3500320AS 500gb
ram: 2x 2gb ddr2 800 mhz (corsair xms2)
monitor: benq t2200hd 21.5 ''
pc case: iball gamer or something from cooler master
ups: APC
headphones: Microsoft Live chat or something from logitech
os: win xp sp3
antivirus: norton internet security 2009 (or AVG free)
keyboard+mouse: Logitech

these specs taken from Chip and Digit mags, but am not sure about prices.
now i have a budget of Rs. 30k (+3 to 5K). i will upgrade to gfx card (H4770 or 4870) later on.

is this configuration good enough? My constraints are that processor+mobo combo must be under 12 to 13K. I will be learning animation, ocassional coding, word processing and the occasional gfx intensive gaming (crysis warhead, bioshock, lotr, starcraft2) when i get the gfx card. is the psu good for it, will it be able to handle one PCIe GFX card ( not intending to overclock often or use sli or crossfire)
also does this mobo support Ati gfx card or nvidia gfx card? will upgrade to windows 7 later

another question: how does one know whether a mobo supports an ATI gfx card or an Nvidia gfx card
also what does the timing of RAM modules mean?

if anyone has ideas on an intel based solution (mobo+processor)than i'm all ears for it 2.

I live in Delhi and nearby 2 Nehru place mkt (PCs sold here). anyone know any good shops? I know 3 but am not sure about good deals there. They are SMC International, Computer Empire, Computer Infinite.

Thanks.

Corrections you should make.
CPU-AMD Phenom II X2(cost 5.5k) or Phenom II X3 720 BE(cost 7.5k)

PSU- Corsair VX450.It will cost about 4k.

Cabinet-Cooler Master Elite 330 for 2.2k.If you are on tight budget then go for Zebronics Bijli.

If motherboard has PCI Express slot it will support all PCI Express video cards. It doesn't matters if its Nvidea or ATI.

This is what happens when you read such magazines :P You end up buying wrong stuff :P

X2 550 is way better for gaming .. But if you are into CPU intensive task like modelling, animation you better off with processors with more core.. For that budget Phenom II X3 720 or 710 seems to be the right choice ... Ohh btw ditch that PSU and get Corsair CX 400 as bare minimum..

also does this mobo support Ati gfx card or nvidia gfx card? will upgrade to windows 7 later

You can install any ATI nvidia PCIE based card in any mobo that have a PCIE slot.. Boards/GPU manufacturer has nothing to do with each other if you are option for single card configuration.. Board/chipset only comes into play if you optiing for dual graphics solution..

All you need is a PCI - Express slot which the mobo you have chose has in it..

Ram timings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_latency . This should clear . Just for simple info the tighter timings the better the ram. Like for 800mhz DDR2 ram 4-4-4 should be the idle timing to look for but if you buy ram with such timings you will end up spending more money.. You can change the timings while OC the system..

Guys, i forgot to ask. Do these case support 2 fans or not? I want one which has an intake fan as well as an exhaust fan.

also what kind of cpu cooler/heat sink should i look for an amd phenom II X2 550 ? is a glacialtech igloo 5750 silent good enough?[/QUOTE]

is a stock cooler enough or wed i need something else?
