Hi
today i changed my normal ATX cabinet and bought a new coolermaster elite cabinet and installed coolermaster thermal compound HTK-002 on the chip.My proccy is quad core.My cpu is still overheating with temperatures around 63-65degrees during idling. i am not overclocking my pc.what cud be the reason behind such absurd temperature range?Shud I wait a few days more and see if temperatures come down0?Is it because the thermal compound is new and still wet?Are there any suggestions??
My main pc configuration :
Quad core 2.4ghz
DG33FB mobo
8600 GT gfx
coolermaster 600w SMPS
Coolermaster elite 330 cabby with only single 120mm rear stock fan installed.
The whole pc was assembled again in front of my eyes and the heat sink was properly installed with thermal paste.
How is it still possible to have such high temperatures.
I stay in Delhi and dont have airconditioner in my room.
Please suggest ASAP.
thanx....

quad cores use to produce lot of heat...let the thermal compound dry a bit...u better would have applied MX-2 from Arctic..U can go with after market coolers like sunbeam..This can reduce ur temp to 40-50C

thermal compund do 1-2c at max.....better get a aftermarket hsf!..........or........try lapping ur HS...till it shines..then aplply good TIM....reseat

Brother the only thing i can do is install new 120 mm glacialtech or amigo fans both at the front and rear.Otherwise cant help it.

Also Is this fact true that fan is not installed in the side casing of the cabby??
The guy, to be precise the sardarji at SMC international delhi was saying this.
Reason being fans move anticlockwise and will create magnetic repulsion and aftersome time both the stock as well as side fan will stop working.
Is this correct???

Also are there any cheap and efficient aftermarket coolers available in the range of Rs 500 which I can buy?? lol...

   You believed him, or even thought it was true?

You must post the name of the sardarji who gave you this idea. He needs to nominated for the Nobel prize!

Anyway, to your problem. Where are you reading the temperature? The Intel Control Panel? Or a third party software, or BIOS?

Will you try the Intel TAT and report back with idle and load temps from that piece of software? Or Prime95 and Coretemp for burn in and temp readings respectively.

Is the system behaving abnormally, or are you just concerned about the temps??

Quads have slightly funny temp readings, this may be an Intel bug and not a really high temp. Don't worry about it just yet.

A side fan is not necessary in the Elite, just use the duct and position it as close to the CPU fan as possible.

he he he...

Brother dont know the name of sardarji coz there are two of them in the shop.balle balle !!!

Neways coming to the point i took the readings from core temp 0.99.1 and have uploaded a screenshot of the same.

Have a look and lemme know if something cud be done? Is it too early to say dat my temps. are high since the thermal compound would still be wet.how long will it take to properly set between heatsink and chip??
