Graphic Cards Help needed

I have a PC with the following config.

Intel P4 3.0 Ghz HT
Intel 915 GAV MOBO
512 MB DDR
80GB HDD
CD Writter
DVD Drive
TV Tuner Card
Internal Modem
800 watts Speakers
15" CRT Monitor (Microtek)
400 watts zebronics SMPS
500 VA UPS(velsine)

1)I have a problem with my monitor.Whenever I boot my system My monitor starts flickering (flickering lines on the top) for 2 or 3 minutes then it became normal. After working for half an hour whenever i restart my system there is no broblem. What is the problem? Please explain.
2) Now i want to buy a 6600GT PCIE(XFX,Leadtek or BIG).But my vendor tell me 6600GT is not suitable for my CPU.6600GT is limited by my CPU.Only 6600 non GT is fit for my PC. Is it true.
3) Inbetween XFX,Leadtek & BIG which is the best brand in PCIE.

Dunno bout the 1st prob.....

2.get the 6600gt .....it aint limited by ur cpu...its good enuff for the GT.....ont even think of getting a non-gt

3. All r good......hav thier pros nd cons......keep the BIG 6600 GT as primary option..

1. For your first prob, you could try re-screwing your VGA ports. And also 6600 GT is not bottlenecked by your proccy.

I think your dealer did not have the 6600GT in stock and was trying to fool you to go for a non GT. Ditch that dealer..... He knows nothing.

And BIG is supposed to be very good. IT is supposed to be BFG but branded BIG. You could also think of going for the Gainward 6600 GT GLH...

Try to Degauss the monitor. Remove the cable, clean it as well as the port in the PC and plug it back in and check if there's any difference.

And get the BIG 6600GT. If ur dealer still tries to sell u anything else, smack him on his face !!!!

Get the Leadtek.
You can overclock it more than the others.
The Leadtek has a Copper cooler which is essentially better than the others. So more headroom for overclocking prevails.

Get the 6600 GT. 3 Ghz HT is more than sufficient.

some one here had a similar issue with their monitor as well. I think it was somehting to do with the moisture in the air. I could be mistaken though

hey, i had the problem too...cleaned the port once..also..blowed air from the vacuum cleaner into the monitors rear grills to blow away the dust...now no problems.

As for the gfx card..dont settle for anything less than the 6600GT...BIG is good and it comes with a COPPER heat sink and is a good overclocker

Hmm, now for the monitor everybody above has mentioned all the solutions.

For the GFX card, get the BIG 6600GT if you want to overclock extremely.

For better VFM and moderate overclocking get the Leadtek 6600GT. Yeah the two games add immense value to the package, so its your choice...

I would say just get the 6600GT no matter weather its from BIG/XFX/Leadtek... All three are VFM... I personally use XFX and i am satisfied with it...

I have a 15" CRT Monitor. So my vendor told me without 17" monitor buying a 6600GT is waste of money.Again he forced me to go for 6600 nonGt PCIE.I am confused a lot. Please tell me can I get better gaming experiance from 6600GT with 15" CRT monitor or not?

Listen please go for 6600GT, i think ur vendor is trying to give away his stock. Dont listen to him. First he told you ur proccessor is not enough, now he is telling you the monitor wont support. I think 15" is enough. But i am sure 6600(non-GT) wont give the performance with 15" as compared to 6600GT +15".

Why dont you change your vendor ? Just go for 6600GT blindly, the best VFM card available in India now. Go get it !

For the 15" CRT, yes it will be a slight drawback but then you can upgrade to a 17" anytime to get awesome performance.

How much is he asking for 6600... I think there is a catch in 6600 pricing...

What he is trying to tell you that you wont be able to do 1280x1024 on your 15" and by watching your config in the first place i was a bit amazed to see that you are on a 15"incher and not on a 17"incher but performence wise it wont make a difference... experience wise yes... Bigger will obviously give you better experience... But in no way a 6600GT an overkill for a 15" Moniter...

Go in with your eyes closed...
