Help!Opening demat for first time

Hi!

I am new to stock market and am just a beginner.
I want to open a new demat a/c.
Please tell me what are the things i should know for opening a demat a/c.
What type of charges are incurred.
I am going with Indiainfoline,how good is this?

please tell me the set of questions i should ask the representative?
 
I also have an account with IIFL.

The services are pretty good. But recently they have hiked the opening charges.

I had opened the account under the 555 lifetime scheme.

Just had to pay 555 for lifetime, no other extra charge after that for lifetime.

Now i guess they have some 750 extra amt added.

I guess Sharekhan has 1 yr free trading, so for beginners you can go ahead with Sharekhan.

Things to ask while opening a trading account:

1) Opening fee

2) Any annual fee

3) Brokerage ( Intraday as well as the normal one)

4) Brokerage for F&O per lot

5) Trading software to be provided, also any learning sessions for using their trade tool

6) Role to be played by your RM

Guess these points would be helpful..

Hope im not missing out on stuff.

I am using sharehan from 3 yrs its good for a start due to low charges but do check with other charges like minimum brok amount even u buy or sell 1
