Hello guys,

A friend of mine sent this 500gb HDD to the RMA centre in Bangalore because he found many badsectors.
After submitting his defective HDD, He got an RMAed HDD in 5 days,
After formatting his drive he used seatools SW to test for any kind of errors, To his surprise, The 'Long test' failed within seconds of starting the scan.
Now he is scared to transfer any data to it.
What should i tell him to do? Screw the RMA guys?

Pls help as he is using my secondary HDD and i want it back :@

Use HD TUNE and do d error scan check *dont do quick error scan check.

If everything is green.. it works perfectly :D try that.

same is the case with me ....but for a 160gb HDD....

The RMA'd hdd is marked with certified HDD, does it qualify for RMA???????

@cooldude: Even RMA stock could be bumped/damaged etc in transit so can happen. Get it RMAed again.

@longlife: No issues with repeat RA even if its re-certified. Basically, the balance warranty of your original HDD is available for the RMAed HDD. They update it in their system :)

@6pack: Tried it with 4diffrent sata cables but no help :@

@techie_007: I dont think so, Coz he opened a big box containing around 50HDDs seated safely between some kind of thermacol right in front of my eyes.
May be the RMA guys just see if the drive gets detected and place a RMA certified stricker and flag the drive as "Seagate certified" :@

BTW: The guy who collected the HDD marked "Not Detecting" in the area where it asks for the problem(On his comp). Without even asking what the problem was, Infact all the HDDs were marked "Not detecting". Dumb computer operator:S

Yes.so true.they mark it as not detecting w/o asking us.

Well i too had the same problem twice.both times i had it sent to seagate care & replaced it
