thinking of buying a 4870 shortly but im lil confuse as to which vendor shud i choose.asus/sapphire/gecube/palit/MSI????

does the specs change from vendor to vendor?cuz the price is varying MSI 4870 is 18000/- and gecube 4870 is RS 20000/-
TechShop.in

If so what are the main features/specs that i shud be looking out for?

My budget for gfx card is Rs.20000/- max. Im from hyderabad.

firstly you can get it for a lot cheaper.

look at the various deals available here -> http://www.techenclave.com/dealer-s-paradise/

secondly the only difference spec wise is gonna be in clocks and the cooling system employed. across the board one can generalize nd say that the cards based on reference design are all the same.

the non-reference cards will be like hte Palit with its custom dual slot cooler nd Sonic edition cards, etc. i'm not too sure about the non-reference models avail in India.

the card comes factory overclocked mate :)

basically, it depends upon your budget. if your budget allows for a factory oc'd card, then why not go for it?

U want to pay more and get a normal card

its the same card....the card runs a little hot so a better cooler is good....

also the reference cards are all same...so get a anyone which is cheapest....

:thumb: gotcha..........in that case will sure go for palit sonic edition...thx for the inputs

getting the sonic dual edition wud not be a good idea as it would dump all the heat in your case better get a dual slot cooler 4870( ref. design saphire, gecube etc )

Considering the setup he is getting - i think he will be investing in a cabinet wiith good airflow and fans to take care of the heat.

However, i heard sonic is a bit noisy as only one fan is temprature controlled!

^^^^^^^im getting a cooler master 690 cabinet....now then which is better sonic edition of dual slot cooler one????

You can also go for Visiontek HD 4870 which is also dual slot and I have been using since last 10 days and working fine with very sharp and crisp picture in monitor as well as LCD TV. It is not available in India but got it from KMD.
