CPU/Mobo Help Required: PC wont start after six beeps

Hi.

I have been using a desktop with I3 3220 Processor, Gigabyte B75M-D3H Motherboard, 8GB Corsair 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM, 120GB SSD+2TB HDD, onboard display for last 3+ years.

I am more than 100% happy with the performance for "my" requirements (was happy with even 4GB RAM which I upgraded because I got 8GB from Amazon at a very good price last year).

Now, when I switch ON my PC, I get 6 beeps and no display and it keeps on restarting. (keyboard problem??? I have Dell wireless keyboard mouse and removed its USB dongle. Dell keyboard is working fine with my NUC. Tried using Logitech cordless keyboard also but same problem). Can it be display problem? I don't have a display card to test.

Once in a while I get single beep with some garbled display but after few seconds I get 6 beeps with no display.

I got the same 6 beeps around 15-20 back only once but it started in 2nd attempt and I forgot.

I guess my motherboard is faulty.

Now I need to ask can it be repaired? Any suggested places in NCR?

Or can I get a new motherboard with LGA1155 socket?

I want to have USB 3.0 and at least one SATA 3 (6 GBPS) port. But I can live without them (but I really wish USB 3.0 at least)

Or do I need to replace complete set of motherboard, processor and RAM?

I want to spend as less as possible but will spend whatever is required because it is my lifeline.

Please suggest urgently.

1. Calm Down, If it beeps then it's at least alive. for making sense out of beeps Read this http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/faq-page.aspx?fid=816
2. Check for lose connection in your power cables to Motherboard, Yes that 24 pin and 4 pin connectors.
3. Did you overclock? Then you may want to reset CMOS.
4. Reinsert the Ram After blowing the ram Slot, dust is a enemy.
5. You may want to re seat the CPU once, making sure all pin connectors are fine.

Try and post back the results.

Yesterday, I tried everything except motherboard connector and CPU re-seating. These two things I did just now but no luck. Sometimes, it gives single beep with garbled display with some text visible like Gigabyte UEFI. Sometimes (not always), it says that boot device not found very normally (I have disconnected the HDDs). When I connect bootable HDD, again single beep with garbled screen and it restarts every few seconds and gives 6 short beeps.

I don't have a spare memory module to check. In fact no spare motherboard, graphics card or processor to eliminate doubts.

Guys, lets assume my motherboard is defective, now what options do I have? I could find just one LGA1155 motherboard in market - Intel H6WW @3140 but it does not have USB 3.0, SATA 3 (6 Gbps). It does not have even a HDMI or DVI port.

If I change my motherboard, processor and RAM, what should I buy to get similar performance?
 
It is probably due to faulty memory. Try booting without RAM, if motherboard is fine it should give you three long beeps. If so, try putting the RAM module in different slots. And if you could manage a RAM stick, that'd really help in determining where the problem lies (and also, solution for it) !

Thanks for trying to help me.

I tried booting without RAM. It gives constant very small beeps for 10 seconds and restarts and the cycle goes on.

1. Try to borrow a RAM stick from someone, Try that on and eliminate it's not the RAM.

Now there are 2 Things.
A) Eliminating the Faulty PSU.
B) It's Motherboard or the Processor.
I would have tried a PSU from friend first before jumping to option B,
(I have faced issue with PSU once. The hard drives seem to fail(They were fine after new PSU), Computer stops booting gives beeps etc.)
After you Try a alternate PSU on your Machine, You may want to say It's Motherboard or processor.
For that you would need to borrow a working processor, Put in your MB. If it works fine it's your processor which is toasted. Else it is MN.

Will try to find someone with a working computer with almost similar configuration but that will take time.

In the meantime, can you suggest me the cheapest configuration (Processor, motherboard, RAM, PSU) that I should buy to get similar performance. USB 3.0, SATA 3 and HDMI/DVI port is must.

Did you try clearing the CMOS? I had a similar problem 2 days back. Computer would start beeping once I switched it on and then after 10-15 sec restart itself, and the cycle would continue. Tried everything, booting without RAM, cleaning the CPU and putting new thermal paste to take care of overheating, nothing worked. FInally took out the CMOS battery and kept the system overnight and then put in a new battery. System booted up with no issue and is running fine now.

I cleared the CMOS. Removed battery and checked. Battery seems to be fine giving 3.05v. Do you still suggest I get a new battery and change?

In the meantime, checked the system with another PSU, same problem.

Sometimes it boots with one beep with garbled screen, sometimes 6 beeps and restart cycle, sometimes non stop small beeps for 10 seconds and restart cycle.

u have to check each part then ..... i would suggest unplug everything from motherboard except cpu and and ram and remove motherboard from cabinet (while u are at it also check for broken wire ties or some lose screw that might be shorting the motherboard) ...... when u have removed the motherboard place it on a table keeping the cpu and ram installed in motherboard and connect the psu with motherboard and connect the monitor and check for POST if it happens and u can access the bios then there will not be problem with atleast 4 parts ..... but if it still beeps then check for faulty motherboard or cpu or ram ....

Thanks. That's what I have been doing, all cables are disconnected long ago. Today, I removed motherboard from cabinet also to test it.

Hmmm. My symptoms was just continuous beeping an reboot cycle. My computer is 3.5 years old, so probably the battery ran out. If your PC is new the battery may be fine.

Since you already tried another PSU, that is probably not the problem. If you have access to another computer, try using your PSU in that computer and check.

If you can borrow a stick of RAM, try checking with that.

Thank you guys for the help but unfortunately I don't have a spare PC to check if motherboard, processor, graphic card (on board) or RAM is defective.

Please suggest me a place in Nehru Place where I can take my MB, Processor & RAM to get it checked.

I am planning to go there on Saturday.
