At first i had a 200GB Seagate Sata HDD, After using it for around 2 months it started giving me problems like slowing down and errors while copying.Sent it for RMA and received a refurbished same. The same thing happened with the 2nd one.Sent it again for RMA, Received a 500GB Sata-2.Its been around 15-20 days since i started using it(I use it as a storage drive and torrent downloads) and now some type of grinding sounds come from this drive. Some times when i try to copy a file to it,Its slows down like anything and after some time i get a error like 'Windows Delayed write error'.The sound doesn't come always,But does come out at odd moments like when i am watching a movie:( .Also I don't switch off my PC,Its on 24*7(can this be a problem ?)

Its only the sata drives which gives me problems as i also have a Seagate 320GB Pata which doesn't seem to have any problems at all.Although the usage is the same on both Sata and Pata drives, But only Sata gives problems:huh:

What could be the problem guys ?

Any one faced a similar problem ?

Maybe its a faulty SATA power connector? Or your powersupply isnt providing enough supply to your SATA HDD. Most likely its a faulty SATA power connector.

Try replacing it with a seperate SATA power connector. If you are using a normal Molex to SATA power converter, try changing it.

Even i thought the PSU will be a problem after my 2nd HDD went kaput...after that i changed the PSU to a Seventeam 420BKP(Thanks to Rushabt)..i'll try with a Diff. sata power connector

Guys the problem still persists.I changed the Sata power connector and even replaced the Sata data cable with a new one which came with another Asus Mobo.Heating wont be a problem because my case is open and the room temperature is quite pleasant.

Please recommend some solutions.I don't want this HDD to die :(

I really doubt it, that its the psu thats causing the problem. One of my friend had similar problems, there was a batch of seagate drives that were very problematic. Try with another sata drive ? Maybe then u can know if its the psu or not.

I know its not the PSU's problem, As i had a Iball 300Watt PSU when two of my 200GB HDD's died. But now i have a Seventeam 420Watts PSU and the same old problem :(
