Self explanatory.

Of course, I can use Internet Explorer and access the contents of the ipod...but why do I have to do that ??

What is the problem ??

Do u mean to say that when u put the drive in HDD mode it goes ahead and opens up the "OPEN WITH" window automatically ? Also would appreciate u giving some info of the IPOD MODEL / Capacity.

Long things made short let me give u a general solution to this............
kinda sure shot fix....

Make sure u have all the copies of songs of the pod on ur comp.
Run the Ipod Updater.
Transfer Songs Using Itunes.
Once ur ipod is up and running.
Put the ipod into the hard drive Mode - MANUALLY .....
Plug it in.
Should fix it....

if not ...Please revert back :).........and before u do anything......

unhide all the files ....and even ask windows to show u the system files.....and check IF there is a autorun.inf on ur pod...if yes....delete the same :)

This is an ipod Video 30 GB.

@hanzy --- Thanks for the tips...will try them soon. Thing is, this is my friend's... need to to her house and make sure her mom has the backup of all the songs, etc...

Nothing happens when I connect the ipod.

But when I want to transfer data onto the ipod, I click on the ipod icon and I get that window.

And where do I check for an autorun.inf file on the ipod ??
