Whenever i start my media center, my cpu usage and disk usage goes for a toss. CPU experiences constant periodic hikes every 2-3 second. This is not letting me have a smooth playback.

I am also worried about my disk life. Its only happening due to MCE and no virus or malware foulplay.

Funny thing is i have amd 5000+ 4gb and a wd 640 aaks drive.

Any idea what to do. i have turned off system restore. how do i turn off pause tv feature?

regards

Don't use it at all, and atleast patch everything up. On startup, or in options, disable any sort of data retrieval from the internet. One of the problems here is that WMP automatically replaces the information in the first few seconds of an mp3 file with the data about the track.

one thing that I noticed on my PC is that windows 7 runs slow if I install it on a non-primary partition.

Post your windows 7 ratings for each device (CPU/GPU/HDD).

I got 2.0 for HDD when I installed it in extended partition and 3.5 when I installed it on primary partition.

i cannot use media center on windows 7. Its giving me error. It detects my card but cannot play it. something like Hresult: 0x80070003

Even restarting and trying to reinstall the card doen not help. i have the latest updates. please help
