I had given an application for a connection of broadband and landline connection in goregaon west in may 10 and my work order was looked into in june 10 (more than a month).
The linemen came to my house and checked the connection and those fools said that my telephone wires are concealed and so they cannot find my telephone wires from the main junction in my building
They asked me to call an electrician from outside and get hold the exact wire of my flat .
I called two expert electricians but they were unable to get the wires
So i had to visit the DGM 's office three ~ four times but he said that their lineman cannnot do that job so he said that you get it done from outside and as soon as it is done i will give you connection in 2 days. Then i had to get a temporary connection from a local cable operator and till now there is no landline in my house. I am in desperate need of landline and a connection from mtnl because even Relicace refused to give me connection in my locality because they do not have connectivity .
So mtnl is the only option for me Airtel because sucks :bleh:
Please help me and tell me what should i do now
Please guys it is a sincere request
note : there are mtnl connections in many other flats in my building

Talk to the lineman and explain him the whole situation and ask him to do the job for you. Ofcourse you need to pay him extra.

OT: The MTNL guys will never touch your lines inside your home if they are concealed. They had told me the same. This is because they have this fear of electric shock because of other electrical lines which are concealed. Someone had told me that some MTNL guy had suffered injuries/died/dont know because of this conceal thing and from then they decided not to touch them.

And the second major problem is reliance said that they do not have connectivity in my building and they need to install some equipment and for that they atleast need 12~15 customers

Ask any electrician, preferably the one who is familiar with the wiring of your building and he'll be able to find the wire easily. Else, make the electrician install a new wire to your building junction from your home, this would take some time and effort though.

If you're only concerned about a landline, you can always get Tata, Reliance WLL.

I had called tow electricians but both of them were unable to do it

For installing a new wire the walls need to be broken

Yes wll would be the only options left but then broadband problem would be unsolved

^ why do you need to break a wall to install a new wire? use those wire casings and get the job done. Else only way I can think of is that you ask the lines man to disconnect one wire at a time from the main junction box. When your phone goes dead, that pair is the one connected to your line.

I don't think you need to break a wall to install a wire, even if it's concealed. It runs through pipes and they have a way of pulling wire from one end to the other. I had a similar issue in my home where the builder forgot to install the cable TV wire for my flat. We got it installed later by the building electrician. It takes a few hours but can be done without breaking any wall.

best method to get work done by Govt. employees( MTNL lineman), call him to your locality, talk to him personally to get the work done and hand him some money(around Rs.200-300). He'll surely get it done.

I too get it done in my locality for Rs. 100 3 years ago. These govt employee wont work at all and make silly excuses till they didn't get some extra income. :P

Why don't you opt for external wiring?

you are talking about one from junction box directly right?

The secretary is not giving permission for it and also it is a temporary solution as the wire will get damaged and there would be problems especially in the monsoon

Sorry for this dumb question - I don't quite understand your problem. Your application is for landline as well right? So where is the question of them not finding the wire to your house? Doesn't your application imply that there is no wire pre-existing.

^^
Actually the problem is that they are not able to find the wire which is supposed to be installed by the builder to every flat from the wiring junction of his building.

Yes you are absolutely correct

^ In that case, the OP must demand the co-operation of the society in solving the problem. As a member of the society, he has the right to have a landline and the society cannot deny him the right. Make the society a party to it. Give them enough reason why you are so vulnerable without a landline. Let them suggest a solution. Tell them that the MTNL guys are unable to find your wire and neither can the electricians you have contacted. They may direct you to some electrician who has previously done the job.
If laying a new cable is the only way for you to get a new landline then the society cannot deny you the right. If they do not want to permit it, then they have to provide you with an alternative solution. Don't stress too much on the broadband aspect. many societies may not regard that as so essential. But landline is something you can cry about. Specially if you have old/sick people in the house.

fit a new line from th juntion box , same probs with me the wire were so damn consealed no one found it so i bought 30 meter wire and from the 4th floor to the ground floor(wher the juntion box is) the electrician did the job took 3 hourse but he did and the wire are now cased in a white case thru out my house looks irritating bu kiya karey

good electrician can help u,
i think he will connect the mtnl wire (inside flat) to electric supply and then he will test the otherside(junction box) with the tester or so and will find the exact line for urs room....
i think this is the way he tested in my flat.
i can give u my electrician nmber if u want

Ask MTNL to provide wire from junction box to your flat, they will do if you OPT, while booking land-line, MTNL will charge Rs.250/- Officially but will manage & maintain free for life time. If you ask any pvt. guy or mtnl lineman in pvt. for rs.250/- he will do same but they will charge every time to manage & solve any issue related to that line (wire).

Than ask secretary to find out wire for you from Junction, secretary seems to be Problematic culprit in every societal, especially in Mumbai?

I too have very long wire as our building don't have MTNL junction, problem is some time very good speed, some time, disconnect in between & reconnect. 1-2 time may be problem (dead) in monsoon but your complaint will attend promptly & than no problem even if heavy rain. My connection wire is nearly 10 meter in open air/water & sunlight, but it's by MTNL so I don't care as they will replaced/repair it promptly if any problem in future.
