Help with paypal ? Need info setting it up!

I made a paypal account so that i can receive hefty payments form Linux-Magazine :P :jumpy: Now the problem is I don't have time reading those FAQ's and all..

I made a free account and I have lots of questions..

1. What is my account name ? I mean if someask needs to transfer some money to it what should I give to him ? Link or my email add ?

2. The My Account page says that Status : unverified .. . I should give CC details in it..

Is it safe ? I don't have CC card, I only have Debit card will it work ?

3. What if I have some money in my account and i want to withdraw it ? Will it transfer to my bank account or some other method possible ?

Does it support Axis Bank.. I have acc. in this bank.. Also how much they charge on money transfer..

I know these questions are bit lame :P But I don't wanna mess up doing anything with Paypal.. I haven't done online banking or money transfer through any kind of service thats why I am bit sceptical abt it :P

Please help me :)

1) Your email ID

2) IIRC unverified means there are limits on the money you can send/receive

3) They can do NEFT transfer (free upto Rs 7000) / send a cheque to you (5$ fees) / credit money to your card (5$ fees)

So if I enter my Debit Card detail and make it verified I can do as many transfer ?

Just one more thing whats the limitation of FREE Account !

You cant verify your account using a Debit Card. But I think Axis offers a virtual credit service? Then you can use that to verify your account.

Also if you have a personal account you can accept only a limited number of credit card payments and will be charged some 5%. But normal transfer from another paypal account will be 100% free. :)

I guess you got it slightly wrong there. :S

NEFT Transfer charges Rs. 50/- upto 7000 and its free thereafter ;)
 
If you are getting paid for contributing to a linux magazine (congrats you lucky devil - cool stuff) why not just accept cash from them directly? Why go through hassle/cost of Paypal and all? Wont they just mail you a cheque? :D
 
It is indeed safe if you know to use properly lol:bleh:

to get the account verified, you need to give ur credit card details...one which is internationally accepted . It usually takes around 1month to get the account verified , there will be some charge ( forgot howmuch ) for paypal account, and like at the end of the month you will receive the form /bill or whatever from ur credit card company...it will contain details like the charge for paypal account ( it is taken back on activation) , the secret paypal code for activiating/ verifying your paypal account .

When i made mine...it took arnd 1month to get it verified via post mail information , i dunno if its instant / faster these days to get paypal verified ( the online services provided by the bank/ credit card people)
 
Its 1.98$ , and if you can view the estatement of your bill , then you can activate it pretty fast
 
^^ Now it hardly takes 3-4 days. Once they charge the $1.95 to your card it will appear in your online statement within 2-3 days. :)

They only pay cheques to Uk writers.. For the rest the use paypal..

Indian debit cards will not work I tried alot.Credit card works.And the $1.97 gets in ur paypal account once u enter the transaction pin.

1. Your Email ID is the gateway of your payment reception.

2. Debit card won't work as far as I know.. I tried it many times.. you can add Virtual Credit Card.. I did the same.. No risk adding credit card info though :)

3. You can withdraw it into Axis bank, they take minor HIDDEN charges (Less conversion rates they apply :bleh:)

Enjoy the best online Payment system (for me so :D)

Account verification is quite fast now.. It took me less than 1 hour :P that too about 1.5 year ago, they took $2 from my credit card and they returned it to me after 6-7 days.. so it's free.. I didn't had any Secre Paypal Code, it was some 3 digit security code printed on back of the credit card.

No, it wont work. You need a credit card to verify your address.

There is no charge for verifying the address by paypal. They charge around 2$ to your card, when you receive the statement there will be a 4 digit code attached to the paypal charge column. You need to enter that 4 digit number in your paypal account to verify. Paypal will return the charge (2$) within few days.

This method is used to verify your address.
