Help with Paypal

So I just signed-up on Paypal. And I've linked my IOB VISA Debit-card to it.
How does PayPal work? How do I start using it? I mean do I need to transfer funds from my bank account to my PayPal account? Is there any extra fee and is the transaction instant?
Also IIRC my paypal is only for making payment, not receive them. And I'll use it for international purchase (as the sites don't seem to accept my debitcard).
What does this mean?

Can I use my unverified account normally? Or do I have to get it verified?

Please help. Need to buy a few things from Aliexpress.
 
1) once you verified your card to paypal, then you can perform transactions anywhere. For verification they usually deduct a small amount probably some Cents and then would be refunded after verification complete.
2) no you do not need to transfer funds to paypal, it works based on the limit what paypal offers. If your card can match there limit then well enough.
3) See whenever you use paypal, the exchange rates implied are of paypal and not your normal exchange rates. So whatever you pay up front thru paypal to aliexpress, that will incur all charges also. No additional charges would be charged you later.
4) better get your card verified soon as it takes some time to get it done, but as you are using a Debit Card don't know how the verification happens as I use a credit card with my paypal.

Oh I think i got it confused with Alibaba.
@acerulz so basically I can simply start using my PP and on choosing payment by PP the amount will be deducted directly from my bank acc is it?
Also if you don't mind can you buy me something from aliexpress?
I don't have c/c nor can i transfer funds to other accs.

It actually didn't work at first. It said something like "card not found. please enter correct details of the card." I don't know just what kind of bank account mine is but I cannot even do online transfer or check my transaction (already made a complaint back in June) so I thought that the reason must be related to that. anyway i tried it a few times then gave up. Then the following day I created this thread and tried again with the sane card and lo! successful. lol.
