Guys, plz help

Have got few hours to confirm. x1900gt is now cheaper than 7600gt.

will be using it for dual monitor setup on Linux, usage not very graphic intensive work, max: gimp, and maybe movies.

Found out that other than 3D acceleration, things are pretty ok with ATI drivers. Have also seen beryl being used with x1900gt. But Nvidia drivers are lot better in performance.

Right now totally confused:
These are the points I have for now
Pros:
ATI - Maybe can push this one for a longer time as its a better in terms of hardware (want to use this for around 3years). Also hope the drivers get better over time.
NV - Lifetime warranty, If I bust it, I can get a replacement or maybe a equal one at that time.
NV - Their drivers are lot better compared to ATI's (but not OSS, and these guys are almost the same as ATI with their attitude with Linux users)

Cons:
ATI - The present state of drivers and their aloofness towards Linux (It has improved over last one year though) and AMD has promised to open the drivers soon (not sure if it can be believed though)
NV - Maybe its a good choice for now, but how will this workout in terms of performance in next 3years? With more graphic intensive apps in both MS and OSS fronts, im pretty sure things will need better performing cards.

ok, Im almost ready to pull the trigger on x1900gt. Have last couple of queries.

How is the power consumption, is it significantly higher than a 7600gt?

Hows the noise on ATIs. Ive heard that they are noisier than Nvidias. Is the noise really loud?

Why not 8600GT to get full Direct X 10 compatibility. Sparke 8600GT 256MB is available for around 9k.

Will be getting these for less than 4800 (Hopefully)

Do you think 8600GT is a good buy excluding the DX10 thing? Most of the usage is on Linux so DX10 is not much of any use for me. If its worth, I dont mind spending more.
