Hey i have tonnes of Avi files on my hard drive and i want to put them onto dvds. I have Nero express but im finding the software hard to allow me to do it, any help on how i can get this avi onto dvds that will play on any home dvd system would be greatful. thank you very much:D

Avi2Dvd is the one I use.
It not only automatically merges 2 disc movies but also the subtitle files. All one has to do is point it to the proper files.

Also Avi2Dvd is 100% free and comes bundled with the necessary codecs. It can make use of CCE too if you have it installed, otherwise the included codecs provide excellent quality output anyway.

Thanks for the reply, but that is also a concern, the timing of the file, i have had some previous software and while trying to convert it took over 8 hours only for my laptop to crash on it... thats my only problem

^ saumil how long does it usually take for you to encode a standard 2 hour AVI file into DVD?
Around 4 hours using the HCEnc encoder included with Avi2Dvd.

Edit: 1337th post hehe.

well i used Nero VIsion .. it also takes around 3 hours to convert 2 AVI files and burn a playable DVD..

Nero Vision doesn't have any support for subtitles does it?
Also my cpu is slow, which may account for the 4 hour encoding period.

I guess if u wanna write it to a DVD then.....AVI files can b written to DVD using "Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5"... It does a conversion of AVI to VOB and then writes it, but it gives nice DVD authoring tools, with menus and nice music and stuff... Also u can choose the various video/audio quality options before conversion to VOB begins...

I guess thats the fastest way to burn DVDs from AVI files, but then the conversion does take same time as would other conversion tools (about 2-3 hrs) depending on ur PC config.
