Laptops high performance notebook recommendations

Hi all, I am looking to buy a laptop. Kindly help me here with your inputs.

* What's your Budget? 50k (a little fliexible)

* What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? Surfing, HD Movies, DOwnloading stuff, audio editing, PSing and occasional gaming.

* What size and weight considerations do you have? 15 to 16 (max), ideally 15.4/15.6

* Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest?
NO
* Any other considerations? Widescreen, High performance GPU.

Thank you!

Your needs are pretty basic so why do you need a HIGH performance notebook. PLUS, your budget won't fit in a high performance notebook as well.

You can go with the Studio 1555. It's pretty good and has everything you need.

1. T6600

2. 4GB DDR2 RAM

3. 500GB HDD

4. ATI 512MB HD4670

Rest everything pretty much standard.

You can get it for at about 47k shipped!

4670! what are you saying!

when did this happen? Can you link me up please?

Thank you

it's important to note that it WONT be casual gaming, It will be "Occasional" gaming (read gta 4)

Casual indicates intensity, whereas occasional is only a time frame.

OK, i have a few models in mind.

1. hp dv6 2005ax
2. hp dv6 1319tx

which one is a better pick?

the second option would be a better one as it has ddr3 ram.
both the configs have 4650 which is a decent gpu for occ'al gaming.

But theres quite a significant price difference.

So my question then becomes, Is the performance difference between amd m500 with 4gb ddr2 vs intel t6600 4gb ddr3 significant enough to justify paying so much extra?

Let me know, thank you

dont go with the amd proccy(especially for laptop)

keep up your thoughts with intel

1319tx will just do fine

other wise dell studio 14 with i7 around 52k:eek:hyeah:

i couldnt find the studios wth i7 upgrade option in dell.co.in

can you please link me up.

thank you

my pick too would be Dell Studio 15. superb build quality and dell is opening up lot of stores and support centres in India (their own line)

Why to go with Studio 15 when better things can come in this budget?

I would suggest 2 options.

1) Sony VPCCW16FG : P8700 with GT230M and DDR3

2) DV6 1319tx : T6600 with HD4650

HD4650 is little bit better performer then GT 230. But on the other hand P8700 is quite a decent performer then T6600.

GT 230M specs/ Benches: Notebookcheck: NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M

HD4650 specs/ Benches : Notebookcheck: AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650

IMO Both are priced More then 50K but less then 55K(Street Price AFAIK). But it's really worth to stretch your budget 5K more.

sony vaio doesnt stand up to the competition especially in INDIA

they are way to over priced here

drop your thoughts on vaio if your are buying it in India

at the same price of above mentioned sony laptop

http://www.sony.co.in/product/vpccw16fg

you could find an i7 proccy with dell(as i linked you before)

the online dealers give you best disounts possible

also dell after sales service simply 'ROCKS':eek:hyeah::eek:hyeah:

even then if you want to have a vaio get it from U.S.A

also not from newegg.com

sony dealers give best price there locally:hap2:

Would you have any idea on how to get good deals in sony vaios? dealer/ employee etc?

Sorry man, Don't have any info regarding that.

@ocizer

IMHO.. You are sure aware that High performance does not only depend upon Processor. You need to take GPU into account also.

Studio 15 is still stuck with HD4570, Which has no competition with either GT 230M or HD4650.

And considering that OP's one of the requirements is gaming, good GPU must be considered into account.

IF OP is not gonna game too much on his laptop, He can surely think of Studio 15, But If he is gonna game, He should definitely go with the laptop with good GPU also.

GPU is definitely a consideeration. 4570 is too weak. with that gta 4 is almost out of the question, with a 2.2ghx t6600.

Guys, what are your thoughts on hp laptops? heating and their after sales?
