* What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? Surfing, HD Movies, DOwnloading stuff, audio editing, PSing and occasional gaming.

hd 4570 FTW:clap:

also even if it is a GT230m

What in the world would he do with a 14" screen:tongue:(vaio)

hd4530 is enough for a 14 incher

GPU is definitely a consideeration. 4570 is too weak. with that gta 4 is almost out of the question, with a 2.2ghx t6600.

Guys, what are your thoughts on hp laptops? heating and their after sales?

YouTube - GTAIV Gameplay #2 on Ati Mobility Radeon HD4570

it is a fluent play

Too right mate you won't be able to play GTA 4 with HD4570.

- Check out the specs and benches : http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-4570.13885.0.html

Other games will lag too in even mid settings.

Yes but you will be able to play games in Low settings (800 X 600 res, everything off/low, May be (Most of the times) 1024 X 768 res, everything low/off).

Regarding HP laptop, I have DV6 1154tx with P8600 and HD4650 (purchased b4 4 months @66K). And I have not faced any heating issues until now. Plus did not get the chance to experience after sales, coz no problem has occurred until now. :hap5:

I have played all the latest games like Crysis, COD 4, COD 5 and COD 6, world in conflict, HL2 both EPs, Far cry 2 etc etc.

And in all games I have got at least 25-30 FPS(1366 X 768, everything High, 2 X AA). Only in crysis I could settle for 20-30 Max (1024 X 768, everything high, 0 X AA) :hap2:

that's good news.

but i have heard some horrible things about hp service. And i dont want to be stuck with them in case things go wrong. so if anyone has had any experiences positivie/negative, please share.

btw, kjd_1122, have you tried gta 4 on your rig?

yup, (but not the whole game). And It went good.

- All I wanna say is, If your primary usage is Editing and stuff (Like 3d Max, or maya, or heavy usage of photoshop) Core i7 (and good amount of ram, 4 GB preferably and DDR3, if available) would be super choice.

But IF you are not gonna do top notch editing, then no need to go with Core i7.

- Also considering that you are gonna play GTA 4 like games occasionally , It's better to go with laptop with good GPU.

- Plus the usage that you have mentioned, It will surely covered by either T6600 or P8400/P8600/P9700 processors.

Inshort............... u have to compromise on gpu or high perfomance cpu
at your budget

or get a 1319tx HP which is quite balanced with good hd 4650
