Hi..
Lot of you people could be very aware of cars through personal experiences and good readings...
Could you guys post your views on which is the best car in the 10-15 lakh category...
We looking to get honda civic(12.18) next month...
dad likes Skoda L&K..(3 month old selling for 14.5L)
I like the civics interiors and super cool look...
One thing suspicious though is its fuel efficiency is kept under wraps at the showroom...
What you guys think/hear/read of the civic.

Civic all the way !! :D :D

the L&K is a majr ripoff..... not worth it at all !!

If you have the budget, I would suggest a Laura. But if it is too expensive, then the Civic !! No doubt abt that at all....

And the mileage of the Civic will be abt 9 or so...maybe lesser....somewhat equivalent to a Corolla

Honda Civic!!! you wont go wrong with it!!

If i had it my way...i'd ask my dad to sell the Corolla and buy the Civic...only if wishes were horses :D

If its petrol then you can think of the Octavia RS too....kickass stuff.Anyways if its Petrol ONLY then ok but if Diesel is an option, the Octavia is awesome.

As suggested try visting teambhp. Secondly there you can search for Scoda repair bills.

A cluch overhaul can set you back by around 1.8 Lacs rupees and yes that's really 1.8 Lacs and not a typo.

With all the feedback I collected from teambhp I felt Skoda is not worth buying. But then Honda service is nothing to boast about either. But I guess the Honda car would be better and the rip off wouldnt be what Skoda people do.

I guess in the JD rating they were second from the bottom in the stisfaction rating. Guess who was the first(from bottom). None other than our TATA. FYI Maruti emerged as the winner.

The Octavia is all cramped up and has extrmely dull interiors.....
Exactly until Laura variant skoda sucks but thats abt 21L and we r looking for something in the sub15L category.....and the only decent skoda octavia starts frm L&K...and cramped is what I felt sitting in it...
the car looks so big frm out and so small inside....

man 9km/litre is too less for the civic...

I love you yogi

Octavia is slightly smaller on the inside compared to Corolla/Civic. But not by much..... And the interiors are quite dull compared to the amazing civic interior.

And Laura is not 21 lakhs..more like 17 or so.

Anyway sub 15, try to squeeze in an Accord. It is abt 16....... You can extend your budget by a bit and go for the Laura/Accord.

I lean towards the Laura coz of the features....it is absolutely loaded. And it comes with a diesel engine that does 0-100 in 11 secs !!! Absolutely phenomenal !!! Obviously, that 1.9 PD engine will give you better mileage than any accord or Civic. Diesel is also cheaper than Petrol.

Keeping all this in mind, I would suggest a Laura 1.9 PD (not the automatic version but the manuaL version). Spending the extra 2 lakhs above 15 lakhs will be worth it. You will save a lot in running costs......

And the build quality of Skoda is waaay better than Accord or anything...... It feels way more solidly built than any other car. when the door closes, it closes with a nice solid THUNK :P .... It feels real nice.

go the civic way ... :D ... i dont like second hand cars / bikes. and i guess the civic will give u better resale as well and then again its the new IN thing. not a bad car at all.

Honda Civic man... This questions a no brainer :D.

Never buy 2nd hand Cars.. Its a crime :P j/k... Unless you keep it for 2 -3 months, for learning purposes :D.

Just sat in a black Automatic Civic 2 days back and it = s.e.x.y....:D

Get the L&K only if fuel costs are a "major" concern something not so common in the D-Segment buyers ;)

Yeah I am all for Civic [Auto].. waiting for my mom to give me a green signal :) Booked it within 4 days of launch... :( so u guys can understand how I feel... HAD a TD of AUTO and its smooth.. my mind was already thinking of mods on that one ;)

BTW, I feel Japanese cars are good for 5-6 years MAX.. where as good german built one will last longer... I have seen old Mercs and Beemers of few freinds and tho its expensive to maintain its overall solid.

There, last post of this week as I am off to Vaishnodevi tomorrow morning :D

CIVIC man all the way ... i jus saw one on the road today its road presence is awesome... i mean it WILL turn heads...and besides its a treat for the driver sittin inside oo the interiors and dash are nothin short of sci fi!! get the civic :)

just discovered a darkhorse////so now its b/w 3...
honda civic (12.18 manaul)
skoda L&K(14.5 L for 3 months old.....16.2 for new)
Hyundai Sonata Emberra(special offer they say14.6 hyd...and a super price of 12.8 Delhi I hear...)

nikhil L&K costs 16.2 onroad hyd...one would exp[ect Laura to be quite higher than 17L...Il check...
how abt a poll...how to add one...
Yeah right now its the civic for me...

@Harshal...hows the fuel efficiency..any confirmed news
enquired abt black...they say it will take 2 months to arrive in hyd

@Anish fuel efficiency def matters if its just 8km/l and below petrol even in the D seg...n we r prob talkin of entry level D here.......it feels uneasy...

thanks guys

The automatic will give really bad mileage.... unless the in-city driving comfort is sooo important for you, dont go for automatic.

And again, if fuel is also a concern, go for the Octavia 1.9 TDi. I told my uncle the same thing on Sunday. He wanted the Civic but realised that he would find the running cost a pinch.

If you dont mind the high price of petrol and low mileage of petrol cars, then Civic all the way....but if you are concerned abt that, then go for the Octavia.

And also, the L&K is ridiculouslym priced...... dont compare that to the Laura.

the Laura is 18L on road in Pune..... cant be too much more in Hyd....

The manual is priced at 15.9 L ex-showroom (including OCTROI) in Bangalore and Chennai.... and this is the max price of al lthe 5 cities (Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata included).

Well its a fact that the seating in Octavia is cramped especially the rear ones but the front are ok.The best part of the car is the Engine.Even though its a Diesel, its awesome.

Also you can feel its weight while driving.

On a side note, i havent driven another car that handles better than a Lancer. That car is sooo much fun to drive,It is really sad that they gave it a lot poorer heart than it deserved....

Get the Cedia then :P ..... The Cedia with the Petrol engine is much better than that Diesel LAncer you drive...

And I saw a black Cedia Sport the other day and almost crashed my bike !! It looks AMAZING!! I saw the Cedia in ads/ mags, etc but seeing it in the flesh was amazing....it looks stunning.....

^^ So ? atleast in Pune,Mitsubishi service is AWESOME,i would say the BEST in town.

@ Nikhil, well i am not the one searching for a car. Also the Lancer is nearly 7 years old now....so i dont get your point about the Cedia.

Cedia is a good car, havent read much about it though.
