Honda’s Maruti Ertiga-challenger, the Mobilio MPV will hit Indian showrooms this July.

The Honda Mobilio is based on an extended version of the Brio platform. It’s 4.4-meters long, which, according to Honda, will provide space, comfort and utility in a compact package and will also be convenient for parking.

With the Mobilio, Honda has focused on both styling and interior space. The carmaker believes MPV customers in India want style, space and comfort, especially in the third row. Honda has already demonstrated its good interior packaging skills in the Amaze and new City sedan, and the same formula is expected to be applied to the Mobilio as well.

The Mobilio MPV will be offered with the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines that are used in the City sedan. There will be a five-speed manual gearbox for both petrol and diesel models and a CVT-automatic ’box could also be likely for the petrol variant.

Like most recent Honda offerings, the Mobilio promises to deliver class-leading performance and efficiency figures. However, this Honda MPV won’t win any price war. According to company sources, the Mobilio will be keenly priced, but will still cost substantially more than the Ertiga. Expect the base petrol Mobilio to cost around Rs 6.2 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) or Rs 40,000 more than the Maruti Ertiga LXi.

It is a pity though that we, like all good things, will not get it. :([DOUBLEPOST=1403583749][/DOUBLEPOST]Though I do have to say that the boot space is massive for a vehicle of this size. It is clearly better than Innova and Ertiga. :woot:

its having the same engine options as amaze, so it will be quite pocket friendly. mobilio will seriously dent the sales of ertiga and innova(which is insanely overpriced)

raksrules... Arai rating for diesel is 24 kmpl... Expect real world figures of 19-20. Which IMHO is Awesome! My innova is due for a change so going to book one today.

I believe innova has much Better 3rd row space (even leg space) but the same cannot be said for mobilo.
So do consider that before you replace innova.

If there are members in your family who are 6 feet+ then mobilio will be less spacious.

No doubt that innova is wider than mobilio. Third row is strictly 2 seater in mobilio whereas you can stuff a slim person in the 3rd row of innova (not exactly the claimed 8 seater) leg room however is innova paralleling.
Fenix...you will be bowled over if height is your concern. 6 footers aren't an issue.
Personally I am switching over because the monocoque chassis will be more refined as the car is mostly city driven.

I am also planning for an upgrade but liked the RS version more. Sporty and funky,i wish if Honda sold cars with MUGEN kits in India. I am more keen for the Duster 4x4 . Lets see when it comes.

It won't affect the market share of maruti . Honda and Hyundai will fight amongst themselves for a piece of the pie , maruti will still be ahead .

Detailed review is out .

What you'll like:

• Great choice of engines. Both - the diesel & petrol - are fast and fuel-efficient
• Suspension offers compliant ride quality & neutral handling. 189 mm of ground clearance is a big plus
• Light controls, slick gearshift and easy maneuverability for the city. Effortless to drive
• 1st & 2nd row of seats have ample leg & headroom. Middle row beats most C2 segment sedans
• 3rd-row access is easier than in the Ertiga. 3rd row fold-down doesn't affect 2nd row space (like the Ertiga)
• Practical 223 liter boot with all seats up. 521 liters of capacity with the last row folded away
• Honda's reliability & fuss-free ownership experiences

What you won't:

• Low 3rd-row seat is best for kids or occasional usage only. This isn't a full time 7-seater
• The Brio's unconventional dashboard & interior design are too basic for this class of car
• Front styling is identical to its smaller siblings. Face should have been differentiated
• i-DTEC isn't as refined or high-rpm friendly as the Ertiga diesel. Also, overall NVH insulation is poor
• Light build quality. Sheet metal feels very thin
• Brio-level cost cutting doesn't work at this price (slim seats, uneven shut lines, missing insulation & cladding)
• Many practical features missing (seatbelt height adjustment, adjustable front neck restraints, auto-locking doors, bluetooth connectivity, full MID etc.)
