Hi guys.

I have Evga 8800GT 512 SSC edition GPU.

My idle temps goes to 60 after using Evga Precision-Fan speed at 75% :(

My question- Is it safe to run fan at 100%?

Bcoz when i tweak the fan speed to 100% my idle temps are 50-52.

Do you think i need to purchase GPU cooler?

Please pore in your suggestion guys.

:ohyeah:

Hmmm..Gowt1ham if i set it to 100% fan speed idle temps are 50-51.

50-51 is something ok or i really need a third party cooler?

If you feel the temperatures're crossing the limits, have the stock cooler replaced with a decent aftermarket cooler like a Artic Cooling Accelero S1 or the Thermalright HR03GT. the latter's bound to be expensive - close to 2.6k and north of it. The Accelero is one of the very good coolers which retails at a good price - was around 1.6k a year back.

Pair it with some 120mm fan or a pair of 92mm fans and see the results for yourself. The card and the fan would take up close to 3 slots. Not to mention an additional slot for the breathing space!

Mohit's selling an Accelero S1. I say, seal the deal if it aint sold yet! :P

Or remove the stock cooler, clean the fan for any dust which might've clogged in. Reapply the TIM and replace the cooler to see if it helps.

If you plan to keep the card for a reasonably long time, then I reckon investing in a 3rd party cooler is the best option. Accelero S1 is perhaps the best option that I could find at my time. The prices have really gone up though, but it's totally worth the investment. I have been using it for the past 8 months now & my card has barely crossed 50 degrees on load.

spending 2k on cooler for a 8800GT isnt a vice option.

ull get atleast 4~4.3k resale value on the 8800GT. Spend that 2k with it and @ 6.6k you can have a much powerful and cooler dual slot 4850.

If you dont want to upgrade now, set high fan speed.

Hmmmm ok...Than may sell it for 4.5k :D

Thanks for the info guys.I dont think it is worth spending 1.6k for aftermarket cooler for my card

Thanks guys for your suggestion :D

Dude why are you getting paranoid.Running the fan at 100% will not do any harm. And the temps are perfectly fine for your card.

Running a 88GT fan at 100% causes unbearable accoustics though.

EDIT : blackprince beat me to it :p

buy some 120mm high cfm fans for better airflow in ur cabby.

if your PCI brackets in cabby is free, detach all of them and attach another 120mm fan to it sp that it works as an intake from rear bottom and blows air to card.
