Laptops How 2 connect LAPTOP to LCD tv ?

I don't say HDMi is better, i'm quite happy with DVD and have really no interest to get into HD at all. For starters there is no content available over the air here and they take too damn long to download.

They say once you see it there is no going back .but i just prefer to close my eyes till we have mBit affordable downlaod speeds and TB drives for under Rs.5 k to put them in.

This means i was arguing with a guy who wants to keep his eyes closed and is happy with DVD quality and says that HDMI is not better, and has no interest for HD content. Dude open your eyes for starters there's a huge list of content available, Service providers are providing 2mbps line people around you, including me are downloading HD content enjoying some part of technology. And i guess when u start downloading HD some other format will emerge and u will wait till it to become easily available, then something new comes up & again u wait and this goes on till the end of the world.

So if u were the person who had started this thread i would have suggested you S-video for sure

And i don't think arguing with u any more on Video Quality or Audio quality is worth for anyone. Also my work is done for this thread as being a fellow TE user and having some basic know how i have helped another user, solving his problem which is 95% solved i guess.

i switched from VGA to DVI-HDMI (DVI out on my rig, HDMI in on the TV) on my 32S310 a couple of moths ago and the difference is more than noticeable....

not just for HD content but even regular text at 1360X768 is much more clearer

if you were to ask me, S-Video < VGA< HDMI

having said that, since you can't use HDMI (no HDMI/DVI out o your lappy), a vanilla (and cheap) VGA cable would keep you happy

Um we weren't arguing before.

You can't play HD on a P3 which is what i have and no need to upgrade for at least another 3 yrs when SP2 of Vista comes out. Helps i'm not a gamer either.

i don't want to spend more than rs.1k max for internet. Try getting 2mbs *unlmiited* at that price, unless you plan on pulling a movie or 2/month. The download limits on mbs plans are close to ridiculous or the plans exorbitant in price.

Your typical HD rip is 4GB+, for that amt you get 40+ music albums. Do the math and figure out which gives you the best bang for the buck :)

Not to mention i only watch movies ONCE but play music all the time and don't mind listening to a good album many times, also allows me to do other things like surfing at the same time ;). The amt of music thats released per yr dwarfs that of movies by a factor of 100 to 1.

And to top it all there is stil isn't a consensus on *which* HD format will be there in the future, bluray or HD-DVD.

you need HD if you have seen it, i'll admit its better but i don't even have a HD tv to watch it on so its a total waste for me and i suspect a good amt of other ppl in this country as well. The time will come but that's not now. There still isn't any HD content offered by any TV station in India to date, expect there will be 3 yrs from now at least if we are lucky.
