Try GParted. Its licensed under GPL and you can download the Live version here : GParted -- Live CD/USB/PXE/HD

Assuming that you have a C-Drive of say 20GB and a D partition of 280GB with 60 GB free space, you do it in the following way.

1. Shrink D drive to say 240 GB (freeing up 40 GB of unused space)

2. Move D partition to the right (by 40GB) so that you create room for C-Drive expansion.

3. Expand C partition till you use up the newly available 40GB.

The software is easy to use. Do backup all your critical data before you start the process. I suggest you start it at night so that even if it takes a few hours it will be done by morning.

You can also go to start>run>diskmgmt.msc. It's a GUI partition manager for windows. You can shuffle around with the empty space.

Repartitioning drive while having fata on it can be risky .Many premium products also gives warning that the process could fail.So if there is any important data backup first and then try to increase the partiiton size .
Use partition magic have used it (but u never know it can it also fail)
while trying close every app and antivirus.
best of luck:hap2:

better use partition magic.

it has served me well since i'm using pc. :)

no data loss if you use common sense.

copy data from D: to any other drive except C: and D:

format D: and make it empty.

then you can either merge C n D or include as much space required from D: to C:
