How do I extract video from VHS tapes?

Good evening,

I have some old VHS tapes and I want to preserve the content of these tapes.

How do I go about extracting the contents of these tapes?

On OLX, I was able to find multiple VHS players(but they aren't really useful for me, since I'll have to setup a contraption with cameras to convert it into digital format) and I was also able to find multiple listings from people offering to convert it for me for a nominal price.

I have not yet talked to any of them so I don't know how they'll be converting it.


Has anyone here done this before? Are there devices for it? I can spend upto ~5k on this. Or do I use a service? Any one someone here can recommend?
 
You need a video capture card and a VHS tape player.
Earlier photo studios were offering this service, don't know if they still offer it.
 
@bigbyte I can't find any vhs players on olx(for lesls than 5k)...
I found some listings that say, they can convert vhs to cd/dvd/usb for a fee but they are in Chennai/Mumbai... I guess there is no option but to trust them with this. :/
I'll ask some local shops tomorrow, Otherwise talk to someone on OLX.

Found a 20 year old family VHS, need to get content in digital format.

Contact a photo studio shop near your place. Colo Photo Shop has branches all over Mumbai, they may be doin it as well.
