i have a mtnl provided modem-wifi router (model #wa3002-g1) and a linksys wrh54g which i hadnt been using for a while.

my house is about 2000 sq ft and i wanted to have wifi all over which i was unable to get with the mtnl or linksys routers

so i just bought a belkin n300 surf wifi router thinking that it would extend the range throughout as N routers were supposed to have better range. but it hasnt made much difference.

is there a way to use the modem & routers in a way as to spread the signal all over?

would appreciate a link to an easy guide to do the same

also is there a way to measure the speed of the wifi connection - ie not internet connection but the speed that i'm getting from the router to say my laptop. i want to see if there's any qualitative difference between my mtnl/linksys G routers and the belkin N

thanx for the help, in advance

one way is to load a different firmware(say dd-wrt or tomato) ans increase transmit power from default 24mW to 84mW

P.S

This is what I did and got wifi signal all over the house,my house is around 1400sqft though.

What kind of router would be good enough for sending high speed signal across a floor down & a floor above... My house is a triplex...
