I got a defective unit from FKthe sim lock mechanism is broken. I took the tray out with the provided tool, and now it is not going in as something is protruding and coming in the way
I went to one of the apple service centers in saket, delhi to get a replacement. They said they will need to confirm this with apple, which is closed on saturdays and sundays. She clicked a picture, similar to what I've posted here ,and said to check back on monday.
When I asked the lady what do you have to confirm with apple, she said the sim lock is broken and I will have to check if apple will consider this for replacement or not. They might consider this to be user damage. I told her this is not my first smart phone, and I most certainly know how to operate the sim ejection tool, while pointing to my Nnexus 5.
She also recommended me to return it to the seller as it will be easier for me since I bought the phone today itself. I told her I bought it from FK, after which she said they are not out official sellers, sometimes they sell iPhones from other regions blah blah blah. At this moment, got a little visibly agitated and told her this is a valid India import by an authorized distributor and you are legally bound to service my warranty request.
After I stepped out I called flipkart and registered a complaint. I was told somebody from their technical team will reach out to me before 23rd. I also initiated a return request on the website.

When did you purchased and how come you received the phone so early from Flipkart? Sorry but I'm not able to digest that a person asking for an Apple product and if its safe to buy from FK and the same person gets a defective product. Too much hard luck?
Anyway, which service center you went too in Saket? Imaginestore? I purchased an iPad 2 from eBay which was dead and the same service center in Saket suggested me two options:
1. They will issue a proof stating the product is dead so that the seller can replace it with a new one.
2. They will replace it from their end with no issues. I went with the second option as returning products to eBay is a hassle.
Anyway, FK will replace it with a new one. You just have to wait even if it was your mistake to damage the SIM tray. Just saying!
Else, post a copy of your bill or pm me and I'll contact the Area head myself. I met him in an event so he might help.
Neeraj, I understand your concern about the circumstances, but nothing about this situation is made-up. I went to Tresor systems/imagine service center in DLF South court mall, saket (behind select citiwalk) for service.
I don't know if you've heard of 'Flipkart First', but it's a premium service from FK with guaranteed next day delivery. I bought the phone a day before, on 18th evening, and it got delivered the next day in the afternoon, on 19th. Here are the pictures of the delivery note and the invoice. I've masked my personal details, order id, return id and the IMEI code.

Since everyone is saying FK will replace it, I will follow-up with them on monday and see what they say.
