OLX is a popular global classifieds website and quikr operates in India only.

what do you think about it? How does OLX make money?
 
No its not. None of the classified or so called c2c are profit making. It's about creating consumer base and brand. They do specific targeting ads like Samsung did with them some time back, when u search for a used phone u see Samsung Mobile phone ad.
 
Yes but still that doesn't help cove up for cost. They have also started paid listing. Once u list something they will call and ask if up would be willing to get visibility u need to pay 100rs for 15days something.
 
^I think thats their major source of revenue. With the amount of ads these guys are getting from all over the country, even a small fraction of those converting to paid ads would mean quite a tidy sum. And they do not need to invest anything extra to make that happen so its a clear profit.
 
Olx doesn't have a paid service like quickr...like you pay money and your ads will be automatically bump and remain on top.....Because i have asked olx about it and they said they dont have any premium service like quickr......They treat every listing as same.....And from my point of view Olx when you post ads on quickr you will get more customer than quickr....As i sold many things online and in Olx and Quickr but when i post ads i get customers instantly and my ratio of getting customers from olx would be 10:1 than quickr....And i am saying this because i sold more than 100+ products through olx whereas through quickr its 5-6 products as i post the ad in Olx and Quickr on same day......
Sorry if i said something wrong but its fact..........Atleast for me.....
