I would suggest you look for a used Xonar DX for 2.5-3k .It would be better than the X-raider.

If you've got a really good pair of speakers then you may experience a difference when you get a dedicated soundcard, but if your speakers are just so-so, then I don't think it's worthwhile getting a dedicated soundcard, no matter how good it is.

Even I am interested in a PCI connector card. Could not find the Xonar DX on any e-retailer. Any idea. Looks like a good card.

Also another query, this card will be 'almost' touching my 2nd GPU, any issue with that..?

Edit:

Deltapage is showing something else for Xonar DX @4550. Link.

Though this seems interesting. Cannot find it.

If I invest in a good DAC or a Essence STX. I might sell of my Xonar DX . Its not keeping me very happy these days :P.

Yeah what's wrong in there? The package ships with a half-height bracket to be used with SFF enclosures. One can swap it for a normal one. Deltapage's listing is right.

Yes, I was confused between the DS an DX series. I am lookin for the PCI DS series. But it is not available anywhere. Something like this. I need the PCI slot, since this is the only free slot available. Also could not find this anywhere...any ideas..!

Btw i got an intex 5.1 system ... my realtek onboard codec just supports it in stereo mode n not in the 5.1 channel mode. ... so was looking forward to an external sound card ... will it do any help ?

^LOL I doubt. You are better off with the onboard sound IMO considering the Intex speakers you have ATM.

DAC/Sound card + decent speakers = Awesome

Onboard sound + decent speakers = Okayish

DAC/Sound card + crappy speakers = No comments!

Onboard sound + crappy speakers = Crap

That's how the math works out. :P
