Hi guys
Im new here and found this forum accidently (who says all accidents are bad huh?)

Im in delhi and my broadband dreams may be finally realised.I was opting for the TriB 590 NU Night Unlimited Plan but then someone told me abt exattnet.

The dealer is asking me 900 for 256kbsp unlimted and i thought its too good to be true.
So wanted to knw if anyone has it here ad whats the word on the service?

I also have the option of airtel 128 un (but have to get a phone conn) and spectranet for 128 un for 1200!

Exattnet sounds great but hows the service?

Currently Im paying 900 to the local cable guy and get 60 kbsp on a good day !

Here at my workplace, at Lower Parel, Mumbai we have Exatt connection as a backup connection. And its totally hopeless speeds are extremely slow, its down most of the time etc... But then again in South Mumbai its pretty decent.

In Bangalore, it is fast(at least mine). But not as fast as DSL connections. I have a LAN connection. The Hathway person assures me that it is slowe rhan DSL.

But the main problem is the service. If there is heavy rain, the network is down and the common excuse is that the fibre got cut. And it takes them the better part of 1 day to fix it. We susually have aheavy rains in the nights. So, it is very rare if we get back our connection within 12-18 hrs.

But the good thing is that it rained pretty heavily on Saturday night and my connection was working throughout.

It has been 3 days since I spoke to those people.

And if I call the helpline and tell them the problem, they say that the problem is with Jayanagar Broadband services who are actually giving the connections to our houses.

I call up Jayanagar Broadband Services and they say that the problem is from Exatt.

The end result is that my net is down for a considerable chunk of time.......

exatt is the best if u r in mumbai...all other networks cap ur bandwidth...only exatt gives true unlimited connection.

its pretty good, no probs from exatt...
but da local cable fellow dosent maitain the network properly, hubs hanging out of boxes with loose connection and another usual problem...the hub hangs and u hav to cut da power for a sec for the hub to function normally again...

on part of exatt...amazing connection , 256 kbps for 800 bucks :D

thanks for all ur responses.I just got exattnet 3 days ago and im pretty happy with the speed.Stays between 28 to 32 KB/S.
Sunnydiv how come ur paying 1000 for 128?Im paying 950 for 256 kbsp.

In Bangalore ---- I am still having ultra low speeds..... Having study hols from tomorrow. Am going to raise hell..... What the hell am I paying money for???

I am waiting for tomorrow.... am really really going to raise hell....

Damm those exatt ppl....i tried all i could....but those idiots keep saying everything is fine!! they wont even accept that there are problems...

i hope its a prob on thier part and not a plot to reduce alloted bandwidth, as they had done lik 5 months back, reduced my 128 kbps connection speeds from 16-17 KBPS to 11-12 KBPS....

No.... please do not!!!

Have you not been reading the previous posts in this thread???? Exatt is bad. Airtel is better. You may pay more but it is worth it.

DOes Airtel have a 256kbps unlimited??? I was looking for it but they said that it is not there....

I am in South Mumbai and I have the Hathway 256kbps full day unlimited account for 915/- + taxes ... it has been pretty good with downloads... here is a screen capture of a download monitor. The white line is the 32KB/s mark which is what I sould be getting but there are a lot of peaks which touch slightly over 50KB/s.

@Eazy ---- When you take the average of those peaks and troughs, then the average will come to around 32kBps(if you are lucky) or less than 32 (which is standard).

The final result is that no ISP gives you more than what you have paid for.

Of course you are right - but earlier I used to get peaks around 35 - 40KB/s and averages around 24KB/s. This has improved with this new account from Hathway.

I was pleased with what I thought was a faster download speed I got with my new Hathway account because the peaks were a bit higher than what I used to get before - so I said lets download a file and see how much I get in one hour - earlier I used to get about 90mb downloaded per hour - so what did I get now ..... you guessed it ...... 90mb in one hour. So if the peaks are higher now then the troughs must be equally lower :(

You mumbains are so lucky us delhites don't have a single good isp offering 256 unlimited :(
Sify is fooling is like little kids. Airtel is the only hope - maybe they may upgrade their tariffs soon.
