I need an advice on the HTC Magic. Is it good ?

How is it compared to N97 mini ?

I know these are different OS, but still.

Is the 24k price tag worth this phone, or are their any more better phones in this price range.

I dont wanna buy Samsung mainly due to poor A.S.S.

Any Nokia, HTC, Blackberry, SE phones would do as they have better service.

My main requirments are :-

1. Good screen

2. Reliable

3. Audio quality

4. Build Quality

5. A.S.S

6. A bigger screen would be better

7. Touch aint necessary

8. Better OS

9. Good battery life

Budget - 25k max

Phones under consideration - HTC Magic, N97 Mini, E72(I am a bit inclined towars this phone but donno why)

Give android a go. . It's a new platform with bulk app. Availbility and many more intutive features. .otherwise go for Samsung omnia HD another brilliant device. .

B7610 pro's screen color resolution is limited to 65k which wil lead to the bands been seen

Both B7610 and Magic come with. 16M display but both wimo and android 1.6 are limited to 65k color depth. though winmo 7 and android 2.0 should be able to utilized 16M color depth.

thnx for the suggestions.
how are N97 mini, E72 and Blackberries ?

I also like the B7610, but I have had a nightmare with one of my Samsung phone's service.

What do you advice ?
One more thing, what is the current price of the HTC hero?

HTC Hero should cost 22k-23k and it is better than HTC Magic.

E72 is a rocksolid allrouned. Go for it if you are okay with non-touch mobile phone. being S60, applications availability is good for this phone. But N97 Mini is better than E72 any day.

Hero vs magic: Jack's blog: HTC Hero & HTC Magic comparision

Blackberries, am not sure about them.

winmo: B7610 or HTC Touch Diamond 2 or

android: HTC Hero

Symbian: N97 Mini

unsupported phones: Nokia N900 (Maemo), Google Nexus One (Android 2.0)

select what platform you need.

Can you give you opinion on the current Samsung and HTC's A.S.S as compared to Nokia and also future reliability.

I think I will shortlist to :-
HTC Hero, Samsung B7610, N97 Mini. Please help me choose the best.
Platform doesnt matter to me much as long as the phone is fast and stable.

what you said about Samsung service is true. It's downright pathetic and Nokia/SE too are not that great.

One thing that I have noticed with HTC, BB and O2 products is the reliability. They are far more reliable than the phones from Nokia/SE/LG/samsung.

Among the three that you selected, my heart goes to HTC Hero and B7610. HTC Hero is going to get Android 2.0 upgrade very soon. It's a formidable phone that can make others look at you with envy. Not to forget the HTC SenseUI wrapped over Android 1.5

B7610 is a monster when it comes to processing power. 2Gb onboard memory, 800MHz processor, 256MB ram, inbuilt divx support, slide sideways qwerty. This one definitely gets an upper hand against the other two. Even the TouchWiz UI makes you forget about winmo interface.

Go to store, play with these models and decide.

+1 for HTC Hero! Its a nice phone! Oh and if you have someone coming down from US, get a Nexus One man!! (Should cost ~27-28k unlocked) Its one helluva phone!

if u consider off market servicebility then i wud stick to nokia n97.that's the only reason y some people stick blindly with nokia.cos u can get ur nokia easily repaired anywhere

What about HTC ?

Can they be repired in the market ?

Also, I need suggestions about HTC's service centers. Are they same as Samsung/SE, with parts available in 2 months time ?

If the A.S.S. of HTC is ok, then its HTC Hero for me, else N97/E72 ftw.

dude. believe me. worst thing to do with nokia smartphone is to give it to nokia care. most of the service agents have mediocre knowledge of smartphones and most of the time the phone goes on India tour.the scenario is different for entry level and mid range phones as they are ll on same old design and technology.

in short, do not rely on support given by nokia for smartphones.

Then, plz suggest what to buy?

HTC Hero or N97 mini. Im totally confused.

thy mite be better than nokia or samsung .but y take the risk when u're investing bout 20k+ on a phone?? hero is serviceable but if its found in a wrong pair of hands then consider it destroyed

to just correct this line, there is nothing solely O2 phone
O2 is a network provider in UK, it used to mostly provide customers with WM phones and all those phones were nothing but HTC made O2 branded phones
so basically both are same
Now O2 service has changed to MWG group

In any case i am not a big fan of HTC build quality but their products are good in general
and about service, remember HTC has a single answer to any problem ur phone develops

MOTHERBOARD has to be changed
LCD has to be changed

No repairing whatsoever, when u are in warranty its ok but once it ends!!!!!!!
may god be with you to prevent a heart attack!!

coz the motherboard price is almost same as the new phone
lol
so u will end up looking into gaffar market for repair
:P

O2 used to sell o2 branded phones in india earlier. What I gave was just an example of brands that make reliable phones with lower failure rrate.

And yeah for most of the smartphone be it htc or nokia the reply is same. Even to replace a cponent, they will replace entire mainboard and charge a fortune. Same happened to my nokia phone earlier when a small ic burned and the only poption is to replace entire board and I went for new phone instead

its ok bro

by the way same happened to me with HTC ARTEMIS
but no regrets, coz out of about 8-10 htc handsets i used(including O2 and imate branded ones) this was the only one that died on me, all others worked long enough, and i dunno if they hav died yet
;)
