hey guyz i have just bought 256kbps unlimited download plan

since 2 days i started downloading some movies

e.g i started downloading frat party[2009] - the downloading was 0.1% complete, then i tried opening the file and guess wat ?

i could see the whole movie - but the movie was X-Men - The Last Stand

i copy pasted that file and then deleted the torrent + data, i m still able to watch the full movie

same thing is happening with another 4 movies, downloading some other movie which is not even 0.3% complete and can see another full movie

how to click screenshots in homecinema i.e klm ? i m not able to have a screenshot for proof

just want to know the reason ? y and hows this happening ?

It happens when a certain file that you had previously downloaded mysteriously dissapears and then when you try to download something else it gets magically changed.

Anyways are you on Windows 7?

this is my first time i m downloading a movie

i didnot download any movie before this

then how can this happen ?

i m using xp [32bit]

Put some screenshots buddy...will help us understand better.

You can take the screenshots using normal print screen button also.

i had this issue loads of times too but with utorrent and windows xp and then when i moved to windows 7 it vanished.

i got around the problem with changing the download location to a different drive or folder every time i had to download a file.

hmm but this problem is off gr8 help also

i dont need to get rid off this problem

just wanted to know the reason

btw i m using bittorrent

When I took my airtel connection for the first 2 days I was getting around 5mpbs fluctuating. Then it didn't happen.

maybe u downloaded a trailer and thought its a full movie, or the usual 10mb sample which you get with torrents :P

Is the hardisk which you are using a new one ? If you had purchased the harddisk from someone else who has previuosly used it that fellow might have downloaded some movies and formatted it and gave it to you.

This is what happened to me yesterday only.. I had downloaded lost latest episode and then I saw it and deleted it.After that night I started downloading some p0rno.So when that movie was about 10% or so downloaded I tried watching it just for fun in vlc player. But Vlc player started playing lost episode which I had deleted from my drive.Only when the new movie was completely downloaded I was able to see it in vlc.

Since both are video files the newer file is being written at the same place where your older movie was.But VLC plays both the files at times coz the older file fragments are still on the disk.

Hope this clears your questions.

I am very muc h surprised! :S

* Are you sure you are downloading FULL Movie?

* Is the Audio/Video Quality is AWESOME?

If the answer to above 2 questions is YES, than it might be fluctuating AirTel Speeds which you are getting for first few days :cool2:

Anyways Enjoy :)

Same thing happened to my friend, and wt u said is correct.
My friend was downloading some porno, during half way he tried to play it in vlc player but wt he saw was his "Cousins wedding video" which he deleted some time ago, puzzled at his query i even said there is chance that wedding video got uploaded together with porno:)..he got so scared and stopped using torrent LOL. Later he gave me the incomplete file and i can see the porno together with his cousins video i was like wtf?:S
Later i came to now it was vlc reading deleted file:)

It happened to me too. I think someone else in your locality is down/up loadling those movies and you are just a medium node in the connection.

^ torrents donot work on that node thingy. If that was the case then it would show more data transferred in the net logs.

I am pretty sure its the old harddisk thing.

The reason why it happens is VLC is able to read file fragments even if the file headers are missing or if they are replaced by some other video file.Once it starts reading a file if it encounters some other fragment from some older file then it continues reading that too.Remember when we delete files (or even format the harddisk) the files are not deleted but only the data in index wiped off.To remove 100% data its better to use 0 fill softwares which write 0's to the entire disk thereby wiping it off fully.

@unreal.......... LOL. Poor fellow.Must have scared the 5hit out of him.Even one my friends is absolutely paranoid about such stuff.

^ yes you are right. What I meant when I said "its a harddisk thing" , I meant he must have bought the harddisk second hand.

When utorrent starts the file download it marks the size and allocates a space for the file to be downloaded. So if you are downloading say a 700MB file and only 1% is complete and if you care to check the file size windows will show you as 700MB.This is incase you are downloading a single 700MB file. But when you download small files (rar's) then utorrent downloads them one by one thereby taking the space of that folder slowly as the download progresses.

So,Utorrent starts downloading files in pieces (how many pieces a file is divided into is determined by the torrent creator) say for example 256KB piece X 1000.So utorrent starts downloading these pieces and writes them on the disk. But inreality what utorrent is actually doing is it is "overwriting" older pieces of data which is already present on the drive. So lets say it has completed downloading the first few pieces and if you try to play the file in vlc it will start playing coz the starting pieces are available. But when it reaches the end of the downloaded pieces VLC just skips and continues playing the older fragments which are present (and yet to be overwritten) on the hard disk.

That is what is happening.
