Hi friends ...

I am thinkig to buy new CPU + Mobo .My budget is 9-9.5 K.

How is AMD Ph II X2 555 + Asus M4A78-EM-1394 (I choose this mobo bcoz low budget and my friend successfully unlock his X2 550 with this mobo )

Is it good ?

Or

I stick with my CPU + Mobo ?? (I don't want to invest anymore on 775 socket.)

In your case, IMO makes more sense just to upgrade the processor and use it till it outlasts its usefulness because you already have a LGA775 system. What's the point in spending approx 8-10k when you can buy a processor for 4-5k and be done with, assuming we're talking about a system for gaming. You just need to change the processor if you want to make an upgrade. You're better off with one of the e7xxx series.

Upgrade that CPU. LGA775 can still be milked. OC the chip -- and your HD5850 will suffice -- of course.

Just buy a Core 2 Quad Q9550, that processor is very powerful, actually clock-per-clock performance of Phenom II X4...so grab it.

Grab a E7500. Sells for just Rs.5400/- Performance on par with PhenomII X2 555BE( not the unlocked one of course). It OC's well too :)

As ppl have said there is still life left in LGA-775. Save the rest and upgrade ur platform in a year or two when need arises. Especially with sandy bridge slated to release in the next 10 months or so its not worth it in your case for a platform upgrade.

better even buy an old 8400 or q9550 if need a quad core. no use buying a new one.

this is if you decide to stick to the platform. if not then amd is the way to go

Get the E7500 for Rs. 5.4k

Get the Cooler master TX3/AC Freezer 7 pro/Scythe Katana 3 for Rs. 1.6k

Total = 7k

What you get:

A E7500 overclocked to 3.8Ghz for 24x7 use, which is cooler, silent and still much faster than an unlocked Phenom X2 555BE.

You already have a good board if you want to spend 10k ish the biggest upgrade would be a q9550. That would give you performance better than all other quadcores bar the l7's .

That would last you a good while, E8xxx series if you can get a chip ~ 4k would be VFM and a very big upgrade for you as well.

From a VFM stand point E8xxx series makes most sense and would be good for all your games for atleast a year.

Later when games are more demanding and require quads take a call then, most likely you will also look to upgrade the gpu or get a 2nd 5850.

I don't have extra 10k. I sale my mobo + CPU add some cash if needed and buy new AMD combo. I can't afford new 775 socket CPU now .My current CPU is not good for HD5850 .

^^

Start a WTB for an E7400/7500/8400. You might manage in your budget. All three OC like hell, and will feed your VGA just right. You should be good to go for another year.

Get QX9650 from rajan...that procie has unlocked multiplier and it also runs cool. Its similar in performance to Phenom II X4 955. This setup can serve you atleast two years from now.

Or why dont u buy a Core 2 Quad Q8400 @ 8k ???

They OC easily to 3GHz, and and that speed, it's no bottleneck at all.

I heard that Q8400 is not good for OCing .

You heard that right . I can say from personal experience as I owned this CPU for 5 months during May - September . Then i move to Phenom II 955 in October

Overall Q8400 is not good for overclocking
