Its helped me lose 10kgs! Wat more can I say.
I think wearables arnt as familiar in India as they are in the US. And the Fitbit seems to be the best considering its ecosystem and device support.

Awesome job! I agree that it's still new to Indians. I have been using Apple iPod nano to track distance I walked. But that isn't cutting it. :)

oops forgot to attach the pics...shud i start a new sales thread with the pics?

I am using a fitbit flex from last two weeks... seems good so far and motivates you to do more.....
With Iphone 5s and later you dont need the tracker also.... the fitbit mobility tracker app will help you track everything....

I am thinking of buying a fitbit or a jawbone... the wrist band kind. can anyone compare both?

Just recieved my fitbit one last week. getting used to it and meal planning.
Havent put in enough time with it.
@touzeen @onlyravi care to share some pointers / tips .

A pebble does everything that these dedicated fitness tracker do? I am planning to get pebble for fitness tracking and notifications.

You will find a lot of documentation/videos about the products online... but about meals... the database is mostly USA and couple of other countries....
Not Indian though... but I am using the USA food database and you will find most of the items we eat regularly ... even stuff like samosa and paneer dishes...
For others you need to substitute accordingly... like for chapati/wheat roti I use bread... for kachori I use samosa again.. and so on...
with use you will get more and more comfortable with the database and hopefully we could see some new indian items added.
I have been in communication with them for the same....
They said that they are in touch with some Indian restaurants there to get more details of new items...
Many of our food items are sold and packaged food there you will find all that...
You will find most of the vegetables / sabjis in the database that are served in our restaurants here...
Again its not all perfect but gives you a pretty good picture of how much is your calorie intake and how much you need to burn to achieve your targeted weight....
One good thing is for the items in the database it also tracks other ingredients like potassium, sodium, CHO, etc....
I can also track my water intake regularly... guys who run or are in sports/athletes will know the importance of keeping the body well hydrated always.... :)
Cost wise $100 device is expensive coz it is non repairable and has non-removable battery and once out of warranty its only luck how long it will last...
I also asked them why they are officially not selling in India as that will help us with warranty claims.... They already have partnered with Ingram Micro (Which has huge presence in India)
but Fitbit has nothing on the table for the Indian market... I dont know who is selling these devices on Flipkart and how they honor the warranty....
I had got two flex bands out of which one was dead on arrival ... After I dropped them a mail they sent me a new device via fedex within 2 days. And I got it in a week.
If you think $100 is a steep price go for the software versions first like mapmyfitness or fitbit app on ios 7/8 with new devices.
Fitbit device is similar to many others in the market but their web account / software is one of the best .... and thats where the high price pays off....
battery for flex lasts for almost a week once full charged...
ya very good and helpful for sleep tracking....

Taken lot of time to write this long.... so do hit lots of likes ;-)

The only negative i can think of for the One is that sometimes you forget to clip it on. I clip it to my belt loop so I always touch it when i remove the belt and hence don't forget to switch it between pants.

A friend has clipped it to his keychain... which he always carries....
or he wears it on his tshirt in office...
Major diff between flex and one is that one can detect if you have climbed stairs which the flex cant do.... but in flex you can enter that manually....

Im finding logging food a bit tedious, especially searching & tagging. . Favourite food list has started to grow but many times I end up taking something which I haven't in the past.
Also tracking water consumed. Dont like doing it every time I have a glass of water.
How much time do you spend on the software, phone or desktop ?

Dont log it everytime you eat/drink...
Most of the days I am in office and I have a 1 litre water bottle..... which I fill every morning
As that bottle is empty I log it or once in a day I log how many bottles and food. The water I consume in morning before office (like after brushing or while bfast is logged approx... like you know the size of glass at your home and stuff.... I have started using a bottle at home also... its good... )
Initially it will seem why to do it everywhere everytime and you will feel its a bit of overhead but soon you will keep optimizing and get good and quick at it...

the app MyFitnessPal has a better indian food database and syncs with ur fitbit account.
It automatically reduces the calories u burn(tracked by ur fitbit) from your input and gives you a balance which is helpful.

Was not knowing this. Thanks.... will try it out...
@puns believe me after a week or so you get so used to all this or say you will start liking all this and will feel motivated to keep doing this... Its like a mini coach in your pockets...
I am pretty excited.. just started working out few months back and so this all feels more relevant as I could see the results...
