Other How long did you Airpods last? Did you try any alternatives?

I'm always sticking with wired, high-quality sound, long-lasting, and reliable options. I don't understand why people prefer Bluetooth, even the costlier ones from brands like OnePlus and Oppo, when they can't match the sound quality of budget-level in-ear monitors (IEMs). I get that Bluetooth earbuds offer portability and a wire-free experience, but if we can minimize our mobile usage outside our homes, it would be a good trade-off.

See, I am with you. But it is very difficult to escape bluetooth earbuds. The convenience is primary factor and people are ok to sacrifice sound quality for the same. People doing gym, jogging, running etc prefer TWS as it doesn't hamper their workout.
They want to be wire-free and don't want to deal with entangled wires in their bags.

I find the neckbands to be the best compromise between the 2...I have some sony neckband that has been going strong for past 5 years...and I use them for running too
\may have to retire them for hygeine before they actually give up...

Got in offer, little under 5k.

Why? You don't have to buy Airpods. All Bluetooth earphones work.
but I won't be able to use all the features of headpone which is stupid specially after buying a 1.5L phone. Currently I use Galaxy S23 with buds 2 pro. and its the perfect combination for me right now. I want to buy iphone but lack of headphone options from apple is a deal breaker for me. I wish they had one more option that wasn't a toothbrush.

Can you please explain what features are you referring to? Like, do those features requires companion app and if yes, then I am sure good brands would provide companion app for iPhone too.

Apple now partially owns Bose so just use Bose? They are semi-official.

The major one I care about is seamless switch between iphone and macbook. Also, if I want to use my current galaxy buds pro 2 with iphone, there is no good companion app available. I will have to use an android phone to change the settings of headphones.

One of my airpods pieces stopped working within 2 years which sucked. Oh well, at least I got them for free with Apple Education. Recently, I bought redmi earbuds 3 (which are fairly cheap, priced around 3k) and they stopped working within 3 damn months. 3 DAMN MONTHS.

Hopefully it's still covered under warranty. Xiaomi's quality from when it was first introduced went down real quickly when they became popular.

I got airpod pros. Got applecare for 3k adiditional. Used them for two years. Got a replacement and now using the replacements a year and half in with no degradation noticeable. The applecare was totally worth it for airpods.

Yes this the way. I did the same, will get them replaced in Jan 2027 before plan expires. I hope to get 3 to 3.5 years out of them.

I had Gen 1 AirPods which lasted me around 4 years. The batteries gave up which were replaceable. Ended up buying a pair of AirPods Pro Gen II and they are holding up pretty well after using them almost everyday for nearly two years now. Bought a pair of WH1000 XM5 in 2023 as an alternative to AirPods and a headset to use on my PS4. If you're in an all Apple ecosystem, there is nothing more convenient that using AirPods and i'll probably replace my XM5s with a pair of AirPods max due to many little issues with the former headset.

I had the XM4 for over a year and while the audio quality was good, the microphone was horrible, the fit not so great because of the weight while the noise cancellation was okay.

Finally purchased the AirPods Pro 2 unboxed for less than 15k and while the audio quality is a bit behind the XM4, the noise cancellation and microphone quality is superb. Basically it has allowed me to take office calls on the move which was not possible previously.

Having gone through over half a dozen brands over the past 5 years, only Sony, Bose and Apple earbuds make sense if you are concerned about audio and ANC quality. However, it is quite an amount to pay for something with a shelf life of 2-3 years, though I mostly sell mine between 1-2 years.
