why to spend on marriage....would rather have honeymoon at some exotic place ... !!

by the way about budget..... seems like i need salary hike...

Thank to whoever-made-this-thread-alive-from-dead :)

I am thinking to spend $100 Billion* on my marriage.

*@OP- does that make me a poor boy ?

depends on guests and attendees list.

but spending more than 2lac or more is serious foolishness imho.

bt that too depends if i marry any actresses like priyanka, kareena or katrina..:bleh:

then the money comes automatically along with fame & name and gets spends too the same way...;)

Bt would rather prefer spending half of that amount on honeymooning the worlds best places.:ohyeah:

how many times do people marry anyway?
can't afford to marry again n again when people spend a fortune.

and then they keep on pretending that they wanted to spend their fortune as they only wanted to get married once.. :P

i spent 20k on mine ,4 years later i am in the same hole as the guy who spent a couple of lakhs in it :P, except i dont have huge photo album of various people whom i dont know coming and shaking my hand

exactly.

moreover, one doesn't need to spend a fortune to gather good memories. You will remember it anyways if it matter at that moment.

People say 'you only get married once' but you never know...

i will for sure will go court marriage way, and won't spend anything more than 10k inr either for marriage or Honeymoon :D

BTW, spent hell loads of money for my 1st sis wedding, and planning to go more lavish way for my 2nd sis :D

That's how it works in India. You won't spend much, the girl and their family suffers. No wonder they're looked upon as a burden right from the day they're born.

It's not the same in Assam. I mean, in Assamese wedding its not the bride's family who have to take the whole burden.
In fact, the jewelleries and the main bride dresses are given from the groom's side. :D And also, dowry is limited to few household items (no demand what so ever, just few items so that the girl/bride would use in hew new home).

Its not like that in our caste, and dowry is banned as well, it all depends on one's wish, how much he want to spend/ give / gift etc etc :), and if someone ask for dowry he get terminated from caste for 4-5 yrs :P.
