Forum Feedback How should we evolve TE into something big

look at Xda,Linustechtips,ncix tech tips,Raze the W0rld(Teksyndicate)!
a dedicated YouTube channel is what I think we really need! let's expand what we are doing!

sadly the gaming community is dead here.. :( let us all revive it!

Actually for gaming, we need to attract a more younger crowd. People stop getting time after they get a job and the dumb-console gaming does not help either.

^^ Exactly!

TE people are doing great with their writing skills. Don't let them open their mouths :p

Even if someone associated with TE wants to publish content on YouTube, they'd like to do it through their own blog/channel. TE TV cannot happen unless we have good speakers (orators) + free time.

TE isnt social enough -

Facebook and Twitter presence is almost dead. Youtube is a good place to get Tech crowd flowing into yourr website, but then you need everyday videos. Who has the time?

Idiots who start retarded threads kills conversations and discourage other smart people from coming. I see someone give suggestions to add "masala". Your target audience is people that want to upgrade their tech knowledge or want to keep up, no one want to see masala or stupid stuff. Yes usefull or genuine discussion types in GT is great, but other wise ban the idiots.

I used to love the General Talk section till retards walked in with their retarded threads. Lots of fun is to be had, but such pretentious and forced bullshit will attract more retards. Its okay when its done in Bollywood. Where retard khans who's only skill is to make more retarded movies come up with more retarded plots to attract retards. Unfortunately TE's target audience are not retards. I mean if you want it to be anything significant.

It used to be good cause the tech sections were great and the GT section too had sane stuff. To get more younger audience you need to be on Facebook and Twitter. Twitter more than anything else TBH. Share interesting threads and articles there. Get the builds back. Have small contests on twitter. Its pretty fun and easy

Some good points being discussed here. :D One thing I should point out is initiatives like youtube channel might require significant time and effort which translates to money which we don't have much of, unless of course we know of people who intend to invest in TE. Personally I would have loved to have setup a review lab in some major cities. But that said we should probably look at having a pool of users who are willing to review products and then send them items from interested dealers.

Most of the ideas require some dedicated and organised effort which has been lacking.

One of the problems is that of visibility too, visibility besides that from search engine. I am sure a lot of people dont know about TE but would like to be a part of the community if they knew about it. How do we address that problem.

Keep the ideas flowing in folks.

i really dont know, who will make video for YT channel, unless and unless someone is paid good, along with provided with a good high end video camera and mic, QUALITY comes comes with investment, and i don't think we dont have much of investors here.

The tech community in India is not as booming as other community, for tech related content people generally use google.com and visit first few of the blogs.

While when the same user comes to automobile niche, he flee of to tbhp or xbhp or autocarindia.

all of the above mentioned tech forum does have a user base of USA UK, which carry a different mindset in comparison to Indian user base. Cant help to say, Indian internet market is based on timepass, the more timepass content you have, the bigger your userbase will convert into, we live in country where the logical indian YT channel is much more popular than autocar or any indian tech video channel.[DOUBLEPOST=1433265933][/DOUBLEPOST]Regarding increasing visibility, we can organize TE G2g on quarterly basis in different cities, where we can ask some of users to bring their high end electronic gadgets in order to share experience with others, one night out with awesome dinner, and you will see people starts flocking in the community.

Games or hardware reviews can be included on Front page of Site. Polls can be started based on trends happening in IT world. Can introduce TechEnclave get togethers as 6 monthly or yearly event that can include things like Gaming September , Audio December etc.

I agree. We can use subs - computer voice over. It'll require an investment though, we can start with a few demo videos and see how it goes from there.

1: Facebook and Twitter presence is almost dead. Youtube is a good place to get Tech crowd flowing into yourr website, but then you need everyday videos. Who has the time?

2: Idiots like AMG and the other dude
3: who starts retarded threads kills conversations and discourage other smart people from coming.

1: How many times have you seen a YouTube video and thought to yourself. "Hey, thats a neat video. Let me see if they have a forum. Oh, wait. They do. Let me join." Let me guess the answer. 0

2: AMG and the other dude have more credits than you, thereby implying we have contributed more than what you have. Credits are allocated on the basis of every thread viewed, which means our threads are viewed more than yours. Which means we contribute more to the forum than a hateful jealous prick.

3: Kills conversation? Yeah right. I might have, by pawning dimwits like you. Its called nipping the evil in the bud.

4: That dude (I believe you are talking about @Criminal ) has worked for the media, and knows more about what people want than what you do.
Anyways, coming from you, thats a strange line of thought. Considering that the leader of your beloved party likes nothing more than sitting on Dharnas and telling people to slap him. For masala, and to stay in the media.

5: Cant blame you. Threads like these are pathetic.

I started off in 2011 with the PC building guides and here are some of my observations -

1. Lack of Forum celebs - There were really cool people posting extremely cool stuff
PC section had it's own people who were driving the guides/recommendations, where's Gannu BTW?
Audio section had E-Santhosh and so many other people and I quite enjoyed reading their reviews.
Market (Dealer) section had a lot more deals and tie ups with vendors.

2. Landing Page - Maybe my usage pattern has changed but I go straight to Forums - > New posts
The Landing page is where all the action needs to happen. Articles, Reviews. Maybe I changed the dashboard because it wasn't engrossing enough. Similarly good posts sort of get lost in huge threads. There is a version of all these things at the moment but doesn't Top Tech stories/ Non Tech stories under new posts sound better?

3. There are some really good articles but you have to dig up old threads and newer "Pile on" threads to get to them. Do we have an editor who can bubble up the worthy ones on to the top as a daily feature? There is too much redundancy.

4. Next Gen Gaming - No sharing game snippets all the PS4/Xbone guys? Twitter feed/Podcast in the gaming section maybe? E3 is coming up.
Maybe we can set aside an entire week dedicated to a game - I feel everybody purchases games on their own time and plays on their own time. Maybe we can sync up purchases and have an event together. If I know that 4-5 people are getting say Batman Arkham Knight on 30th June and will be available till 15th July I go into planning mode immediately.

I don't know if these would be helpful or would be a pain to setup.

Was that intended towards me and that dealwise guy spat?
You answered your own question.
I won't tell you " Your posts are stupid" or what you say is completely Nonsense, Just like other guy who posted in this thread. I really appreciate your suggestion of not going for an YouTube channel.

Everyone has got their own opinion, Its like take it or leave it, rather not to make it a big fuss and pretending to know everything like a prick.[DOUBLEPOST=1433409425][/DOUBLEPOST]
frankly that's the dumbest thing I read today. being professional is not an excuse for being an asshole.
Are you just saying, TBhp guys do over-action in the name of maintaining professional forum.

Ofcourse Im open to debating his points should he chose to take that road.
I am not debating with anybody here on this thread except with the outlawed super mod. Obviously, people are going to come up with all sorts of ideas as the mod didn't specify the requirements clearly. Does he want cream or the whole pot of milk?

See, the idea of adding 'masala' worked so perfectly... you are stuck on just one point. did you read the other points, like the following?

- I think I am going around in circles. The gist of what I am saying is that either open TE to general mass or focus on just Technology and curb trivial stuff, curtail memberships.

No I get what you are saying mate. But TE already has had the right balance much before today. They know what to do and where to draw the line. We had general talk where a certain kind of sharing and camaraderie was there. And Tech forums were pretty active too. Its when you allow just any random bullshit that people like being_smart start, that people start thinking Ok this place is full of idiots.

There is a balance to be made. There are loads of things to discuss, unfortunately these days you either find news, politics or crap by the likes of being smart who want to know "Which car brand attract girls the most ?". The basic thing is, if there is a certain level of intellect or something exceedingly hilarious or something where you're gathering valuable advice from people, that's allright. But when one person posts bullshit constantly it gets irritating and demotivates sensible people from posting.

@Party Monger , this thread is made for tips we should give to admin in order to increase the user base, plz don't convert into bashing thread. If you are hurt by my content, i am really sorry about it :)

Allah ke name pe meku maafi dedo bawa :) :)

If admin too think same and ask me to not to post such thing, i will straight through walk away with my account getting deleted, :)

You answered your own question.

All I said in that thread was that "I hate Tata, and I hope Vistara fails, much like his other auto projects"
This guy, out of nowhere, decides to make his first post, and begins by calling me a <censored>.

So ofcourse, I can't take things lying down from a guy who has joined yesterday, can I?

Its not that hard.
I have 3 TBhp accounts.
One I gave away to a friend, so now I have two.
