Forum Feedback How should we evolve TE into something big

Unfortunately, the only people who can answer about the downtime are the admins.
I have Few simple suggestions:

2. If there are downtimes, it takes hours to bring it online, My assumption is @Renegade or other moderator logistopath are the only persons taking care of forum. (Need 1-2 People who can handle forum when you guys aren't available at that point of time)
5. Need moderators who can have power to control the whole forum, why i say this.. If i report an offensive post, No action is taken until the next 6-8 hour& some times more than 15hours. Very slow moderation.
Yes. Unfortunately, 6 Months till date from this post date .. No precautions have been taken.

The comments on the first few pages of this thread are disheartening. Really goes on to show what we've become. I still don't understand how in the heck you guys got personal.
Anyway I wish to reply to some posts and since i'm on a crappy mobile i will end up making multiple short posts due to lag. Apologies and requesting the mods to edit my back-to-back posts and merge them. Thanks.
Tomshardware of India. How about reddit style upvoting stuff for frontpage? Or is that 2014 already?
+1. I also requested this once a few moths ago. This will help the "buying suggestions" sections. Also can the buying sections be strictly kept to buying posts only? Move all unnecessary long "discussion-like" posts like "which is better debates" to the respective sections or just delete them. Just point out some of the primary pros of a product if someone starts a debate. I simply ignore them now as they often lead to silly arguments. Too bad some people can't read. Lets not go the reddit circlejerk way please.
The tech community in India is not as booming as other community, for tech related content people generally use google.com and visit first few of the blogs.
I notice something about the search engine results recently. Searching for the specs of some phone yields results which have ndtv gadgets among the top ranks. Earlier it used to be only gsmarena. I'm not sure if this is geographical but its still a very impressive achievement. If its a global thing then damn. The people behind the ndtvgadgets deserve a pat.
yes. for example asking to write a love letter to get an account.
seriously? O.O

The site design is too clunky. It's all boxes after boxes and take ages to load with all the ajax or JavaScript it. It's too mind boggling for a non tech normal user. I don't like the vbulletin or other forum type style. They're too geeky and look work out. Like a 80's style web site.
I agree with the above. I'm not a fan of vB board. I don't know about you guys but i love phpBB. I feel that its light and everything about it is slippery-smooth, browsing, replying etc etc. I can browse phpBB-based forums without any problem from my phone but vB? Not so much. But some people say phpBB has some security issues, i have no say in this as I'm no forum software expert.
I'm using the "light soft and responsive theme" but I still have a problem with the "slowdown" especially when i try to make a rather long post like this one.

And now some suggestions from my side which I feel will improve the forum's situation.
1. Useless TE FB/Twitter pages. When one the last time the fb page/twitter account made an update? We need them to be active again.
2. More original content. For the last many months we've simpl been copy/pasting news articles. For contents we'll need materials and resources. We have many rich and capable members here who spend thousands and thousands shopping. They could provide the contents or if they can't then send the noteworthy products to some other members for reviewing. People who are really concerned about TE will not ask to be paid. Its like a true friendship thing. But the staff who run this forum can make a small payment (any amount) as gratitude or send them some gifts/treats if they feel like it.
I, for one, have too much time doing nothing (of importance other than my classes and some work at home). I'll admit it. I'm trying to make things work for something to happen. Once i get a proper internet connection I will write an article every month. Some PR guys in some reputed tech companies regularly mail me. Heck I promise to write a review of the Moto E 2nd Gen when I buy it. Its a pretty old phone but being late is better than never right?
3. Buying guides. Monthly/quarterly buying guides. Posts with the highest upvotes get to be featured in them. Once again we need the upvote/downvote feature (should come with some strict policies). You may "like" a post which you think is funny or entertaining but "upvote" only those helpful/beneficial posts. Some shit on reddit gets upvoted to the front pages because of trolls. Downvote only if a post is wrong, don't downvote just because you disagree. Democracy.
4. "No" to the Youtube channel/videos. Let us not do something which we will not be able to maintain. First start with the forum.
5. I'm not sure why some people have problems with the posts in the General Section when it clearly says "anything/offtopic". If the "masala" threads are too much i say we create another separate section for such posts, masala/personal for silly personal threads and politics for politics.

6. About the forum interface/layout. Can you display the only important threads/threads with proper discussion such as Black Friday deals thread for example under an appropriate title and show that list in the front page by default? You can also add some "buying" threads to this list if they contain helpful posts. The "New Posts" is not really very helpful so you can put this one in the next tab.
7. Mobiles, mobiles and more mobiles. No explanation needed.
8. A regular meet/event sponsored by TE/some hardware dealers/companies/volunteers. Like LAN gaming events inviting the general public or other non-TE gamers. No entry cost. Members may donate but any interested individual should sign up here. The result may not be instant but hopefully it will spawn more active gaming/E-sports threads with proper actual contents.
Our very own AFKgaming, while they publish a few important articles and other things, have many people who trolls around just for the sake of internet points which make it look like a mini-desi reddit. Meanwhile our most popular gaming forum, IVG has tons of aggressive members. A ban hammer used to be invoked every now and then while i was there.
And something which I hope will excite some members
COMING SOON! :P
So to sum up my comments we can improve TE in three ways: "a better, sleeker, lighter, more user-friendly and more appealing TE layout", contents and activity.

About the mods, they may not be the best or very active but I like what they are doing so far. They do not simply delete/warn/ban members for so apparent reason unlike some other forum (you-know-which!). We can also say whatever we like about them and share them in the feedback section. I haven't found any who goes like "i mod u banned!" They are more mature than others. Thanks mods.
^it will be ironic if i get banned after this lol :D

ps: I've been a lurker (though not very active because of my other commitments) on this forum since literally its inception so even though my joining date may not say I'm actually older and more senior to many of you at heart lol :P

A year has since passed but his highness @Renegade still hasn't replied. :p
:( Sorry fellows for not paying sufficient attention recently. Just a little disconnected these days with stuff. Regarding the forum downtimes, they happen coz of corrupt session tables. Have got the server upgraded to higher RAM so should not happen now.

Will get back to this thread very soon. :D

Welcome back mate!

Its sad to see the forums being so inactive these days compared to the TE of old times. Hopefully some of the suggestions can be incorporated to change the tide..
