How soon do you plan to shift to Vista completely?

I have a system that does not even let e beta test it properly . no drivers for most of my hw . ill just wait till my next HW(major) upgrade that should happen somewhere in late 2007 or early 2008 .

Ill shift then probably .

The requirements shouldn't increase any more, if RC1 runs fine, so should Vista.

VISTA Requirements according to me:

1GB RAM + almost any GPU + AMD Athlon XP/64(not sure here)
Surfing, and basic software usage

2GB RAM + AMD64 + Geforce 7600GT or above, or maybe even 6600GT
Anything

4GB RAM + Quad Core + Dx 10
Multitask anything

8GB RAM + 2 X Quad core + Dx 10
What the hell!

Well XP still has a got a lot of potential, and since I don't game on PC mostly, i'll be keeping XP for at least a year (voted 2k8 Q1)

Well i am shifting now.

RC1 is not beta guys. Its release candidate = stable enough to be released for general public.

32 bit version has preety good compatibility.

And honestly people are making an issue of the hardware requirements.

Even single core systems are running RC1 just fine.

ill shift as soon as someone donates 4gigs of ram to me :D

well, it depends on what releases first, XP SP3 or Vista lol. altho id be tickled to try out Vista when the next release canditate leaks.. (err... releases i mean.. officially!)

But games are not running fine. When I said shifting I meant the time when you would remove XP from your system as well. Are you actually doing it now?

The games i am playing now are known to run just fine on vista rc1.

And i never keep my system on dual boot.

If RC1 gives too many problems, i will format back to XP pro. Simple.

i dont think single core or dual core is gonna make too much of a difference for Vista (general usage) ... its memory and graphics thats bothering everyone :|....and me as well :( .. 4 gigs..i think hard drives were that big in the not too distant past :O

I am using Vista RC1 [ BUT ONLY AS A SECONDARY OS] I wont remove until at least mid or late next year. I already have a somwhat not so good experience with software compatibility in vista. I will remove XP only if all softwares run normally on Vista as they do on XP.

Many softwares even refused to install on Vista !!!!!!!!!!!!!(personal experience)

vista is merely ornamental for me.. n that too 64bit.. many softwares refuse to work.. besides, my amd 5000 processor driver didn't load, chipset driver didn't load properly.. later it did though.. i wonder if i will be able to completely switch to vista.. but hey guys.. its so beautifull.. i guess, XP shall replace its place with 98.. and vista shall remain under experimentation for another 8 to 10 months.. so laod it, show off..

In Jan/Feb along with a new C2D based system. Will finally move into the 21st century - currently using a Duron800 system with Win Me !

... Microsoft will differentiate between versions by color-coding the DVDs.

Light Green will be Home Basic
Dark Green will be Home Premium
Blue will be Vista Business
Platinum will be Vista Ultimate

Microsoft's intention is to help customers differentiate between which Version
of Windows Vista they're running. When a customer wants to upgrade his system, he will simply insert the original, color-coded DVD and purchase an upgrade license—no download needed. Does that mean that upgrading the operating system will not require a connection or communication to Microsoft? Absolutely not. Due to the obvious risk of piracy by shipping every version on one DVD, Microsoft will certainly require some type of "activation", even if there is a brief grace period.

i don't think i will. at the moment on linux and it's running smoothly.....don't think i'll need to upgrade my hardware for a long time while i am usin linux. only when i buy a 64 bit proc, maybe then i'll install vista
