If using KGB archiver, its advisable to have min of 2BG ram for optimum results.. Personally, i used it (though not in its max potential) and didn't find the results satisfactory AT all :(

If this thing works, I see great potential use in torrents. One could do a one time compression of a video file, distribute it easily and the requesters could spend some time decompressing the file. It sure would beat keeping your PC on for hours downloading a DivX or XviD file.

OT: a great way to beat piracy is to increase file size. BluRay and HD DVD movies would be hard to pirate just on account of the file size.

with 2mb/s and very soon in the coming yrs around around 8-10mbp/s connections downloading a 15gb or for that matter a 30gb file wouldn't take time at all.

btw some hd-dvd movies are already available for download @ 19gb file sizes.

edit2: even blu-ray movie is available for download @22gb size.

This would be an immediate solution :) . At the rate we're going, affordable 2Mbps is still 5 years away :@ .

Imagine downloading 1000 movies in an hour with 2Mbps using this technology...:! Pwned I say to the movie industry  .
