How to change d audio output from HDMI to sound card?

I hv my PC connected to my LCD TV . My gfx card is HD 4850 and its HDMI port is connected to the TV. Now when i connect my TV to the HMDI port the sound only comes from my TV and not the pc ( ie. sound card which is asus xonar). What should i do to stop the sound from the TV and use my sound card output as audio output???
 
I currently have windows 7 installed so i can just solve your problem (......most probably it'll solve your problem in the other versions also)

control panel > Hardware and sound > sound > Playback(tab) > select the output from the listed devices.

hope this solves it .

windows 7 prioritizes Digital inputs thus when you connect via USB /HDMI/SPDIF ...it switches to the it.
right click the xonars output and check " set as default device" ...no need to do this every time from now xonar will be the priority.

wrong thread though.
