How to close Airtel BB connection?

Guys, I am having an airtel BB 2mbps connection in Hyd. I changed out from Beam after running into trouble with them . I had this connection for 8-9 mths now.

Recently after some road work done in front of my building Airtel has started to give me problems. Too many downtimes, speeds which were stable at 250-60KBps now swing wildly between sub-100KBps to 240KBps. A 700mb movie which used to take 40-50 mins is now replaced by 400mb download.

I am seriously thinking of shifting back to Beam Cable but not sure on how to proceed with disconnecting this Airtel connection. Any ideas?

simply call 121 from ur airtel landline or call from ur cell to airtel broadband customer care and tell them you want to request for disconnection due to so and so reason, within 7 days your connection will be terminated and in next 7 days modem phone and stuff will be picked up from ur place. your billing with stop from the day of ur request within 24 hrs

send them a mail..or call them and raise a request...and whatever you do...don't accept any requests of changing the account to somebody else name if they request/plead for it...m****f***ers...they duped me saying that my connection will be given to somebody else(they said that mine is an old account and my plan does not exist now..and if I close it..that plan will be lost)...and now even after paying all the bills...they are still asking me for money even though somebody else is using it..

^^ Could not agree more, they have become swindlers, these ppl. Same thing happened with a friend of mine.
These sort of things used to happen with credit card companies where they would issue add on cards now even BB companies try to pull off this stunt.

Like others have already said, call them up, tell you are disconnecting, give them all the reasons and that you are simply not interested, get a ticket number. You are given a 7 day window. Meanwhile you will get calls from their retention department trying to sweet talk you. Be polite, don't get rude, and just let them know firmly you want to disconnect. 7th day someone should turn up and do the needful. The instrument will also be taken from you. In my case, the 7th day never came, and I left the city, so I still ahve the instrument :D :P

Do it by mail and make sure you manage to get a ticket no. They may wake up after 2 years of disconnection and start sending bills. If you dont pay them, you will start getting calls from their goons. (it happened to me...and these goons are not bothered by the fact that there is no such connection in operation). But thanks to a written disconnection letter and ticket number by mail, I am not worried. I had to bear these guys for about six months. But after that I saw a site called consumercourt.in. I put my complaint there and then I got a response.

It is Airtel we are dealing with so do not forget these points.

If you choose to send them a mail (121@airtel.in) they will send you an acknowledgement with the cancellation request number (or ticket no.).

If you want to call 121 and request for a cancellation make sure they give you the cancellation request number (they will send you a text message to your mobile), also note down the complete name of the person you are speaking to and the department he/she is from, along with this get an interaction number for the call. Why all this? well, in case they turn out smart and harass you tomorrow for more money you can refer the interaction no. and trace back the call.
