PC Peripherals How to connect a PCTV Stereo remote ?

as from my signature u can c .. my TV tuner card .. now i want to use d remote .. the remote comes with a cable (sensor)with is to be connceted to the mobo.. but in my mobo there is no such place to connetc d cable ...what 2 do??
 
The remote is a wired one or an IR remote???

If its an IR remote, then the IR receiver connects to the USB most probably;

Else the wired remote should connect directly to the USB.

Lay down the specs of ur Tuner card properly pl. :D
 
what sort of plug is it ? is it like a headphone plug or a serial plug?

if it is the latter , you might need to get some sort of serial adapter since the IP 35 E doesnt have a serial port :(
 
yes.. greenhorn.. i need a SATA port on Mobo.. but not available.. so have to get d adapters...is there any other solution??
 
either get the adapter , or sell your current card and get a newer pctv card which has the connector on the card itself

or sell your mobo and get one which has a serial port or a serial port header
 
^^Serial ports have been outdated for some time, although some motherboards've them.

USB has become the de-facto standard for such peripherals.

Sell that and buy one which has a USB connectivity. :)
 
the IR reciever doesnt need a usb connection- except for windows mce ones.

most tv tuner's IR recievers these days connect directly to the tuner card via a 3.5 mm minijack(the same we use for audio)
 
I have PCTV stereo card. It comes with that stupid serial port connector for remote receiver.

Anyway, I've lost my receiver while shifting. So currently I don't have any. Anyone knows where can I find one? or if I can use any generic IR reciever for remote with some modding?

you can use IRMan - Infra Red ReceiverIt is a serial port IR unit that allows you to control various programs on your PC with any IR remote.Then You can use uIRC to config any IR Remote like you have Pinnacle

Hmmm... so I will have to use Serial based IR receivers. I've USB IR dongle (Sigmatel 4012) with me, but I can't figure out how to use it with PCTV.
