You also might be getting an option below to CONTINUE browsing the website..

Pls post a screenshot of that..

Try this

step
1open internet explorer and verify that the page you are trying to view is listing a certificate error.

Step
2to clear the certificate error go to tools --> internet options from the menu of ie 8.

Step
3click on the advanced tab and scroll down to the security section. Clear the boxes for: "check for publisher's certificate revocation" and "check for server certificate revocation".

Step
4click apply and ok.

Step
5attempt to reload the page by clicking the refresh button at the end of the address bar or by pressing the f5 key. Your page should now load as expected.

or again this

1.browse to the site whose certificate you want to trust.
2.when told "there is a problem with this website's security certificate.", choose "continue to this website (not recommended)."
3.select tools->internet options.
4.select security->trusted sites->sites.
5.confirm the url matches, and click "add" then "close".
6.close the "internet options" dialog box with either "ok" or "cancel".
7.refresh the current page.
8.when told "there is a problem with this website's security certificate.", choose "continue to this website (not recommended)."
9.click on "certificate error" at the right of the address bar and select "view certificates".
10.click on "install certificate...", then in the wizard, click "next".
11.on the next page select "place all certificates in the following store".
12.click "browse", select "trusted root certification authorities", and click "ok".
13.back in the wizard, click "next", the "finish".
14.if you get a "security warning" message box, click "yes".
15.dismiss the message box with "ok".
16.select tools->internet options.
17.select security->trusted sites->sites.
18.select the url you just added, click "remove", then "close".
19.now shut down all running instances of ie, and start up ie again.
20.the site's certificate should now be trusted.

I had done extensive research on this earlier, a couple of months back, and everything led me to this:

Win 7 + IE 7 = Impossible.

Of course, if you want to go the virtualization route, that's another story, but it's far too complicated a process for something like this.

I suggest you give us details of what application you are trying to run, and rather spend your time on getting it to run on IE8.

Actually i want to use IE7 due to the fact that one of my share trading platform is based on IE7 and it doesn't work on IE8.

So tell me the method to downgrade it. I tried uninstalling ie8 from add & remove prog., but after removing it is still working.
If you are using 64bit windows 7 then it ships with both 64 bit and 32 bit IE8 browsers. Try the sites you want on each of them.

I keep updating my java versions, adobe flash player and shockwave player. I have no problems with any sites.

For a 64bit OS you need to download both 32bit and 64bit Java.

Goto FileHippo.com - Download Free Software after installing the above mentioned programs and download their update checker program if you want. It helps detect your installed program updates.

Try your sites on different browsers, forget IE.

Firefox with the adblock plus addon would be the best choice. Surf ad free :hap2: Chrome also would be a good option.

^^IE8 is not only safer but is good looking than the previous.. BTW it is not possible as IE8 is build into win7.

As you cannot install IE5 on XP, IE6 on Vista, similarly you cannot install IE7 on Windows 7

For further reference, try this.

If you are comparing IE7 and IE8 then its supposedly more safe :)

If you are comparing it to other browser like firefox, safari, opera and chrome then its the worst. Being pretty has nothing to do with it. :bleh:

I tried the above, but it is also not working. I had tried it both in XP & WIn7 but in both the same problem exists.
The errors are shown here:

Hope this will help you to solve the problem further.

Have you even tried with a different browser. Try FF/Chrome. IIRC, there is an IE addon for FF which makes sure that all IE websites are rendered correctly in FF.

FF=Firefox

IO=Internet Explorer.

OT - If it says that you might not want to use that website as it does not seem very secure.

Dude, those are certificate errors...this error generally happens if the SSL certificate is issued by a authority whom IE don't trust...if you trust the site then don't worry...this error will come in every browser...you can add the SSL certificate issuer of this site to trusted identities and SSL error will go...

I tried by installing the certificate, but even after the error exists.

Tried the url in the image. Chrome gave a me a big red warning, but it lets me proceed anyway.

From what i understand, the site is using the https word in the url link; however, it's not adhering to https protocol standards. I've seen this error in a few other ecom sites, and if you're putting money there, i'd strongly advise you to think again.

Any good site where mail, personal/banking info/ money is involved, should strictly comply with https standards, and even then it's not good enough.

But like i said, chrome runs it and it seems to work -- your call :-)

edit:

Did a little more research on that certi..

1. it's issued by tcs - should be secure enough

2. uses sha1RSA 128bit algo - also no problem there

3. It's inside required time validity.

so well, again, i'm not sure why the https part is being questioned here.

Finally I was able to downgrade IE8 to IE8 using IE8 removers software.

Now the problem is i am not able to type anything in the boxes appearing on the web pages e.g. when i go to gmail, i am not able to insert my ID & passwords etc.

Pls help.

Ask your trade site owners to upgrade their versions damnit!!! :rofl::rofl:

As for your certificate errors, it looks like your HOSTS file is damaged(probably from a virus attack). Delete the existing one in your system and replace it with a fresh one(you can download the original one from the net but make sure it's intended for your OS only.
